Banharn supported in his leading role for political reform: survey
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The public supports former prime minister Banharn Silapa-archa in playing the leading role in pushing for political reform, an opinion survey has found.

Suan Dusit pollster found that Banharn, Chat Thai Pattana Party chief adviser, had the support of 37.12 per cent of the respondents to lead the reform efforts.

The survey was conducted during October 9-11 among 1,169 respondents.

It found that most respondents agreed with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's decision to assign Banharn the leading role in the government-initiated political reforms.

Some 37.12 per cent of the respondents said that Banharn was a political expert while 29.95 per cent said the person in charge of political reforms should be a non-partisan person who is not a political party member.

Most respondents said the reforms should start with development of people's awareness about democracy. When asked if the political reforms would lead to better politics, 55.69 per cent believe they would while 10.78 disagreed.

So what was the feeling from the other 62.88% of people interviewed?

One could hardly call the support numbers a convincing approval of Banharn's activities.I'v e heard of poetic licence when making comments but that pollsters comments are too much.,

There is one hell of a difference between a good fart and a follow through which indeed is what the Suan Dusit pollsters comments are.whistling.gif

Another dinosaur coming out of the Supanburi closet again. Let him take care of his great grand children or look for a befitting burial ground on the Chinese grave yards of same city which will be renamed one day into "Banharnburi"!
Once this patronizing feudalism gives way we might see Thailand moving into the 19th century 8-)

Banharn is obviously the right man because he is such a learned politician. Naturally modest, he feigned inability to communicate verbally in English with Queen Elizabeth when she visited Thailand during his premiership, necessitating an interpreter for his profound remarks. However, only a few years later he was able to submit a thesis for his masters degree in political science that quoted at length from English and French sources.

The survey was conducted during October 9-11 among 1,169 respondents.

In Suphanburi?

I can claim some samll credit as merely one of many highly skilled neigh cunning linguists working at the time for Elitistcondom and Trance Asian services

at the time all off the books tutors were known as Ajarn Cutandpiste as we devoted equal time to ski-ing and peeing.

P>S There is a new Doctorate in FlimFlam for those with sufficient "life experience of prior T money" to pay $199 allover Mr Gores interwebs.

I recall at KSU one of the head honchos was revealed after a year to have obtained his degree from Dublin Uni (yes the online degree mill in Dublin California near Oakland). All local qualifications KSR or foolalongporn etc were discarded as there was a scurilous suggestion of widescale scholarship.

In Suphanburi? Soup is gruelling and my supspicions is they make these up like their degrees as they no know one cares believes or even if they did find the methodolgy faulty nothing would happen.

Indeed soup and bury best solution for this mess of potage.

In fact I think you'll find he actually referred to our Sovereign Lady Queen Elizabeth the second as ''Liz Taylor.''

I have been told by someone close to him (a lady friend) that upon looking into his left ear in a moment passion she actually saw their reflection on a wall mirror which was viewed through his right ear.

I think you will find that most people are utterly sick of the attempts at prolonging political strife and would love to see some arcane deal where it all went away. Oddly enough I have been surprised at the negative comments of many of my yellowish Thai Facebook friends to that small anti-Thaksin demo. I guess that is why it is small.

Banharn though has no chance here and nor would any other person. The elite, and these are people who do not join parties in a democracy too, do not join in committees with those they consider lower than themselves and negotiate. They tell their lowers what to do and expect it done. They do not join political parties that face election either. Too much chance of utter face loss at the hands of the plebeians in an election. They tell the political party hierarchy what to do and expect it done. No discussion. In Thailand democracy and all its trappings starts below a certain strata of society and extends down.

Well done. You have perfectly described Thaksin and unfortunately political peace will never be attained while he dictates to his selected friends in power.

Have to agree with you on that 100%. Strange to hear it coming from hammered. But all so true.

I can not think of any one on the political scene now with the credentials to do it. It would really take some one from out side Politics with a sense of integrity.wai2.gif

The only cast in stone fact that is in the way and has to go is that Thaksin must go. On a side note it would be interesting to see what Yingluck would do as the PM. The rest can be worked out with honest input from all parties and the public. This I believe would be a little hard but doable with Thaksin out of the picture.

The person chairing the committee must have the trust of all the people. I can actually think of one candidate but his health is not good enough for the work involved.sad.png

Well, he made his monument into Thai history when he greeted HM Queen Elizabeth with ......Queen Elizabeth Taylor! And yes, his French thesis written at Ramkamhaeng university (latter never though a millisecond in the French language), went down in Thai history as well.

Still he is the uncrowned king of Suphanburi and everybody knows why. It stands for the whole country, except possibly Bangkok!

More of the same corrup practices, form one of Thailands great dinosaurs
