Maria Sharapova heading for Hua Hin

HUA HIN: -- World number three Maria Sharapova of Russia is scheduled to compete at an exhibition match in Hua Hin, Thailand in December. The four-time Grand Slam champion has already skipped the rest of the reason due to continuing rehabilitation of her right shoulder injury.

The Russian superstar has already withdrawn her participation at the season-ending WTA Championships where she finished runner-up a year ago. The defending champion of the elite eight-woman event is Serena Williams.

“I will start my off-season preparations early and use my exhibition matches in December in Bogota, Mexico City and Thailand to get some matches going,” Sharapova announced via her official website.

Sharapova has been travelling the past few weeks. She was sighted last in Spain and she’s been updating her fans on what she’s been doing lately via her official Facebook page and Twitter.

Sharapova participated in the Thailand event in 2010 where she defeated Venus Williams.
