Re-entry Permit, A Long Wait?

Featured Replies

My IB Visa runs out on the 25th of this month but I'm still waiting for my work permit. On Wednesday I will go to Macau and HK for 4 days, can I just go to the immigration office tomorrow and apply for a re entry permit then? As my work permit is due to be done next week so I would like to have my IB visa when I come back as opposed to going to Vientiane again.

Any idea of what time I should head to immigration at? And is it done on the same day?

Thanks.

If you have all the paperwork in order and hit the right time, usually mid afternoon could be as little as 15 minutes. Wrong timing could be a couple of hours.

Or you could do it at the airport on departure.

So no need to line up early in the morning like they do for the visa extension?

In the afternoon you should have no problem being in and out of CM Immigration in less than an hour. Lining up in the morning heat with all the desperate masses is entirely unnecessary, for routine matters such as re-entry or 90 day reports. Took me 4 years to figure that out, but I am a slow learner.

Unfortunately I think I'll need to line up in the morning as I need to be in work early afternoon ><
