I am making my annual trip back to the village this August. This time, I would also like to spend a few days in Khaeng Khut Khu. Anyone leave nearby and/or can recommend a place to stay? My accommodation needs are pretty simple. A view of the Mekong would be preferable and a shower definitely... Also, I'd like to meet any Falangs and their friends in the area. Thanks in advance for all replies. :o

Hello legendarysurfer,

I have been tyo khaeng khut khu many times before. My wife hails from Chaing khan, it is the nearest town. There are several guesthouses and restraunts rifgt on the mekong river. there is a nice little river walk there also. There is a resort at kheang khut khu also with a pool and restraunt .Basically it is a river bend with some small rapids. you can do a boat ride, wear earplugs.a little shopping area.not much. I would sugest you stay in chaing khan at a guesthouse. Not many farangs there, really quiet and nice views of the river and laos.

have a wonderful time.

Thank you, Khun Jim... The suggestion about Chiang Khan is a good one, especially. Perhaps I could split my time between the two... I have been to KKK before; never noticed the guest houses, but that's probably what I will do. I'm not a resort kinda guy... Again, khrap khun khap! :D
