Where can I buy Peking Ducklings?

Not sure this is the right section

I am looking to buy up to 40 or more white Peking Ducklings but cannot find a supplier on the web. I live in Nang Rong, Buriram.

Have a shop in Nang Rong and ordered 80 of them and told it would take a week to get, 5 weeks later they say cannot get and gave deposit back.

Asked them to keep trying but over 3 months later still nothing.

Can any one advise of any contact numbers or addresses.

We have some brown ducks (not sure what they are called) but they do not grow large like the Peking Duck and I am told by the wife not great to eat.

All they are good for is laying small eggs.

We have some land next to the house with a big pond which would be ideal to raise and sell ducks.

Peking are very popular down south.

I would guess you have Khaki Campbells, very good egg layers but not that good to eat.

Can't help you out as I live south but maybe get someone who is driving back up that way to pick some up for you ??

Same question was asked last month by member jak2002003

Yes Boycie, Before posting I did search then read the above mentioned post.

1. there was not really an answer to the question.

2. I don't live in the Changmai area but as you can see from where the post was moved to - the Isaan forum - and therefore was hoping for an answer from those in that area,

No luck though so far.

Ask around for the local CP supplier. I know they have reps who deliver fish fingerlings, day old chicks etc to farmers. They may be able to supply what you need.

Will try that but from what I gather there seems a reluctance to sell or maybe there is a shortage of chicks and unable to meet demand.

We have Pekins and if you are looking to them as profit making enterprise ,I would advise to try Khaki,s for eggs or Muscovy for meat.

Reasons being Pekins will eat you out of house and home and to get any quantity of eggs out of them they need 20% protein food.

As meat birds ,many Thais consider them to pretty to kill and eat.

It is the Father-in-law who wants the ducks. Have a large piece of land with a pond which he uses for beeding fish. I think that he wants to get the Peking chicks for later selling on to local villages for eating. Have looked on the web for Muscovy ducks but I can't say that I have seen these around and again no sources found.

I am beginning to think this is a lost cause. He will have to do with the 3 Peking ducks he has, unfortunately they are all female so no increase in numbers will be forthcoming.

Get some geese, much more fun smile.png

my order is in please 2 for me.

I only managed to hatch 2 out of 6 this time.

Waiting for Mum to lay again but she is only young.

Incubated eggs failed miserably (8 developed but couldn't break out), think the humidity was wrong. Eggs under a Muskovey 2 out of 6 :)

Geese are great, very much like dogs but a touch on the noisy side !!!
