November 11, 201312 yr Popular Post Found this 4-month old little guy (still has pink paws) wandering near a main road in the Sansai district, looking lost and desperate for something to eat and a quiet place to rest: I gave this too-young-to-be-abandoned pup some food and water, but when my conscience forced me to go back and check on him tonight, he was still where I found him, crying softly in the middle of a dark road, with that "I'm lost and I can't move forward" body language. Took him home, gave him a good wash, and a bed for the night. As much as I'd love to keep him, we cannot because we already have a full house with five territorial ex-strays. From observation, this pup is:Unusually attentive for such a young pup, and a very good listener - his ears pop up every time someone speaks;Very playful, but will stop as soon as you've had enough;Very good around children;I have never seen such a good-natured and human-centered pup before - he'll follow you everywhere and melt in your arms! This healthy pup will make an excellent companion for life for a lucky person or family. Will deliver him to a good home anywhere in the Chiangmai area.As a bonus, I'll pay for the initial vet checkup and vaccine shots. Please help save a life.
November 11, 201312 yr Popular Post I can't take him in, but if i was ever lost and alone i hope someone like you would find me. Your a good person
November 12, 201312 yr Author Thank you, Paangiang, you're too kind. If anyone here can help, or knows of anyone that can take him, please... "2tone" (temporary name) looks a lot happier this morning...And he's sooo happy around humans..."(this driveway feels so much better than that nasty road...)" "can i haz home?"
November 13, 201312 yr I can consider taking him but there are certain absolute conditions that he has to fit in with. Like to chat with you, if you pm me a number.
November 13, 201312 yr Author Popular Post Many thanks for your kind offer, Triffid - 2tone was taken by another TV member just this morning. A big thank you to Seesip for offering him a very good and stable home with his family. And a biiig thank you to all kind TV members who offered moral support. This virtual community has something good going for it.
November 13, 201312 yr Looks similar to the lil chap we got from Carefordogs. Bit more black, but cute as this. Very friendly as well, doesn't bark, still a bit afraid of other dogs doing this. Great fun. Congrats to the new family!
November 13, 201312 yr Well, Jose, I'm very glad it has turned out well for the pup. My conditions/hesitations related to firs if he would live peaceably with my seven cats, and secondly if my rather dominant male alsation would give him too hard a time - I had to find another home for a previous stray who was finding it difficult. Anyway, I'm very glad it has turned out well.
November 13, 201312 yr Author Thanks, MadMac, Triffid - I have a feeling that 2tone has found the perfect home. From observation on this pup's reaction to local squirrels, I'd guess that he may have hunting genes and so may not be safe to leave around cats or chickens. Who knows - maybe this is why he was let go in the first place.
November 14, 201312 yr Damn. Got beat to him. Would of loved to have him. My wife and I frequently take in dogs from carefordogs. We have 2 rai of wall next to the forest where I run with my dogs. if it doesn't work out. Let me know.
November 14, 201312 yr Author Many thanks, FarmerJoe - it's great to see the support here for CareForDogs. There are so many good-looking dogs waiting for a good home in CFD's waiting list, more so now that they are attempting to rescue two dozen pups surviving in atrocious conditions here.
November 14, 201312 yr Check this out, 2 adoption fairs coming up: https://www.facebook.com/street.dog.rescue
November 14, 201312 yr I can't take him in, but if i was ever lost and alone i hope someone like you would find me. Your a good person Agreed! You have just restored a little bit of my faith in humanity, thank you Jose
November 16, 201312 yr Jose, you deserve at least a few lifetimes of nothing but good karma for your care of animals like the lost pup.
November 16, 201312 yr Author Paangjang, NexusWR, CBR250, WitawatWatawit, please... <blush> You are all very kind, but in all honesty my small attempts at helping man's best friend pale in comparison to efforts by dedicated souls, such as Elfe, Koh Samui's own Mother Teresa.Elfi has practically single-handed built a tiny oasis for 200 dogs in desperate need, in a part of Thailand where the cruelty of dog-poisoning is considered the social norm. From 6am to beyond midnight, 365 days a year, 100% of this unassuming unsung heroine's life revolves around finding ways to help her lovely but desperate pups survive. From my point of view, there is no greater worthwhile charity than Elfe and her pups, which I try and help whenever I find myself with some spare cash.
November 16, 201312 yr This is great news. Keep in mind that if dogs are well cared for, they can live up to 15 years and for those considering acquiring a dog in Thailand should be certain of being able to stay in Thailand for the very long term or at least have close friends or family members willing and capable of giving the dog a decent home if having to leave the country. Any doubts of ifs, buts and maybes, should not take on a dog under any circumstances, for obvious reasons. Most of the animal rescue centres recommend the vet, Doctor Chakrit. Details below. He is a Thai American qualified veterary surgeon. All the staff speak English. Most of his medicines and pet supplies are imported. Not the cheapest vet in town, but depends of how much people value the welfare of their pets.
November 17, 201312 yr Beetlejuice Your first paragraph beat me to it. Almost every week here in TV there is someone in Thailand trying to rehouse their pet.
November 17, 201312 yr This might be of some interest, Soi dog The Movie. Based in Phuket... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIaceLcOZAc
November 17, 201312 yr Author This might be of some interest, Soi Dog The Movie. Based in Phuket... True life heroes... The amount of physical fortitude, commitment, courage, sacrifice and emotional strength required to deal with the myriad of adversities when caring for soi dogs at this scale, would simply be overwhelming for the average person like me. These kind souls deserve all the support we can offer.
