Many Consulates contract out their Visa application receiving process, and a number use VFS, what country are you referring to?

You need to provide more details.

What is the children's nationality?

If they are nationals of an EEA country and hold passports issued by that country they do not need an EEA permit to enter the UK.

As said; more details required.

our child is thai national. she is coming to uk to reside with her parents ( father uk , mother thai ) mother has permanent residence in uk and is in uk under eea regulations/rules. we are submitting childs passport into vfs in bkk this week.

we only need to know how long it takes to stamp/ endorse her passport with eea stamp.

our lawyer has emailed the vfs/embassy and told them what day we will arrive in bkk to have this done and submit passport.

all appropriate papers are in place. we hope.

thankyou

Are you sure that she qualifies under the EEA rules?

As far as I am aware, unless she has been living with you in another EEA country while you worked there ( which is presumably how your wife qualified), she doesn't. I am not sure if her mother having PR under the EEA regulations changes this; hopefully TVE or someone as knowledgeable can advise.

If she does, the latest figures for Bangkok show that for EEA family permits issued in September, 90% were issued within 10 working days, 100% within 40 working days.

You say that the child's father is a UK citizen, and that the child is going to the UK? Surely a UK passport for the child would remove the need for any kind of visa or permit?

I'm assuming she is his step child.

If not, one has to wonder why she has not got a British passport.

As her mother must have been living in the UK for at least 5 years to have received PR under the EEA rules, one also has to wonder why the child has not joined them before now; but that's their business and no doubt they have their reasons.

Kranuan, I missed before where you say that your lawyer has emailed vfs/embassy and told them what day you are going.

It doesn't work like that; in Thailand the applicant completes the VAF5 form online and then makes an appointment at vfs to submit the printed VA5 form and supporting documents and have their biometrics taken. Just turning up, even if you've emailed them and told them when you are coming, means you'll be turned away and told to come back when you've made an appointment!

Are you sure that she qualifies under the EEA rules?

If the child is solely the mothers all you have to do is demonstrate this fact and they will issue a eea permit sole responsibility is not an issue.

Thanks.
