As per title.

If you are requiring a "proof of income" letter from the British Embassy in Bkk and dont want to take the trip. You can apply by post, and the current stated turnaround time is 2 weeks.

I have done this for the past 3 years, with turnaround times of between 1 and 2 weeks. Beats me, though, why the Embassy insist on payment by postal order(s). Why can't they accept payment by credit card, just as Hong Kong do in the case of passport renewals?

I did it last month sent the paperwork to BKK on Monday morning and got it back Thursday morning. Went to IMM Thurday afternoon and had the one year extension thirty minutes later.

Nice to hear of someone who is well organized and experiences no problems dealing with the system. It makes you wonder about the people who seem to think completing a simple application procedure with Immigrations is just too overwhelmingly difficult.

I'm pretty sure your experience (and mine) are quite typical despite the tales of woe from people who find it all too difficult to cope with some pretty straight forward requirements.

I did it by post once too and it was returned within a week, I guess they quote 2 weeks to cover themselves.

I'm going to use the new service operated by Key Visa as I will be in Pattaya next month and don't want the overnight trip to BKK.

I shall report on it then.

Postal orders? Never heard of them in Thailand. Do you but them from Thai Post?

I have used key Visa and things went very smoothly all for the princely sum of 300 Baht + the cost of the letter. Good service.

Thanks bkkrick for telling that the Key Visa service is operating efficiently, good to know in advance. Cheers.
