There was a lot of hoopla that Lao Central Airlines was to start a service from Khon Kaen to Luang Prabang. The airport installed International arrivals facilities, but nothing happened. Anyone know what the story is?

There may be ambitions to start lots of services but the demand is not there. Why would plane loads of people want to fly from Khon Kaen to Luang Prabang?

The daily bus service to Vientiane is never more than half full and the fare is only 120 baht.

I'm afraid the airport will never have much more than the service to BKK.
