HUA HIN: -- Black Mountain Golf Club, Hua Hin has continued its remarkable record of collecting awards, having just been voted best course in Thailand at the Asia Pacific Golf Summit for the third year in a row.

The championship course that opened in 2007 also was also named first runner-up for the prestigious honour of best course in Asia Pacific.

The two awards were made at the annual golf summit attended by leading golf industry identities from around the world, held this year in Jakarta.

Black Mountain has now collected seven awards at the summit in the past five years:
• Best new course in Asia Pacific (2008)
• Best championship course in Thailand (2009)
• Best course in Thailand (2011, 2012, 2013)
• Best championship course in Asia Pacific (2011)
• First runner-up, best course in Asia Pacific (2013)

Black Mountain last year became the first course in Thailand to be included in the US Golf Digest list of the Best 100 Courses Outside the United States and in 2010 was voted by professionals on the Asian Tour as best host venue of the year.

Black Mountain’s status also played a major part in Hua Hin being named last week as Golf Destination of the Year for Asia and Australasia at the annual convention of the International Association of Golf Tourism Operators (IAGTO), held in Spain. IAGTO is golf tourism’s peak body with more than 1000 members in all golf-playing countries.

Black Mountain’s General Manager, Harald Elisson, this week said: “It is a great honour to win the latest awards, especially considering the stiff competition from so many outstanding courses in the region.

“This year’s third win in a row as best course in Thailand is very satisfying considering the course has been open for only six and a half years. It is a testament to the planning, hard work of everyone involved and our determination that every visitor will have a memorable golf and leisure experience.”
