Suthep declares December 1 as "People's Victory Day"

Suthep is not an idiot. He is a cynical calculating powermonger, but far from idiot. That makes him all the more dangerous. He have shown more then willing to let blood flow to keep power. And from how I remember it was due in court to defend his actions in 2010 this december.

To kill Suthep would be an act from Sutheps playbook. Do not even propose something like that. He have broken enough rules the past weeks to serve time in Thai jail. He should be arreste and have his public trial.

Have there been any polls the last few months that say anything about how people would vote if there was an election?

When is that insane Suthep going to announce his victory, ... and that he is - victoriously - going back to his less victorious, rather miserable, Democrat's failed politician's life?
Do you have to wait midnight to see him vanish?

Hope the police will catch him crying in his bed and send him for life in prison. That is where he belongs bah.gif

If you want to find him just go to the protest site, as that is where he sleeps, unlike the red leaders who sleep in 5 star hotels while their cattle followers sleep outside.

Maybe Suthep doesn't have his victory but where oh where is Yingluck and her aides????

She should have been live on TV shortly after him.

I was just in a store last week that sold army boots, camouflage, backpacks, emergency rations etc. Now the store was in Singapore, but if they have one in Singapore I would not be surprised if you can find the same thing here.

Two places to find them: Vorachak Road market, or near Chatuchak. And probably many other.

I think they wisely didn t answer the provocative Suthep as he has clearly lost this battle

Todays victory should be awarded to the small group of Ramkhamhaeng University students that got 70.000 Red Skirts running for their lives.

How anyone can seriously speak of "victory" after today, is beyond me!

But you seem to be a nice "the glass is half full"- guy and see the positive in everything!

I am sure Jatuporn or Comrade Thida could have organized a whip round for a few more days?

How come Jattuporn said that 4 Red Skirts and one student were killed on stage before running for the hills? (no reports yet about the body found in the bus)

Well the day was declared V-day, not by me but by Suthep. To me looked more like a stalemate for Suthep. After his speak 4.30 they all stopped attacking the different sites and a band started playing on their main stage.

Looks like the authorities' crowd control tactics are way more effective than ever before...

I've no axe to grind either way.

We've been watching events all day on Thai TV. The police were patient, remained in position, even allowed the protestors to approach to within a few feet but when the need arose, they unleashed teargas hell. Very controlled and professional.

It's no wonder the hordes have retreated for the day.

Just reading now. Suthep was on TV and had a meeting with Yingluck one hour ago!

"He has been talking to Yingluck in front of Military Chiefs for an hour, no final solution."

Did Yingluck siad anything other than " that's not true" during that hour ?

Or did she actually said anything at all.

Whatever sides are right or wrong, the country's interest is to get back to normal. Until the leaders wont understand and try to negotiate, its not going to be any better. Common sense dictates is to sit down and hammer out a quick solution before things get worse and also they have their highly respected King's Birthday in the next few days, nothing could be bigger presence for him just to calm down and get back to normal civilised constructive discussions.

The problem is the following factors are purely missing from the current Thai political context:

- Country Interest

- Understand

- Negotiate

- Common sense

- Quick Solution

- Respect

- Calm

- Civilised

- Constructive Discussions

Thai PM flees police compound as protesters launch 'people's coup'; at least four dead

But after a day of skirmishes between protesters hurling stones and Molotov cocktails against riot police firing back with tear gas, the demonstrators failed to breach heavily barricaded Government House, office of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, although the number of protesters began to swell as night fell.

"They haven't seized a single place," National Security Council Chief Paradorn Pattanathabutr told Reuters.

The protesters sowed chaos in one of Southeast Asia's biggest cities, breaching a police line, seizing seven police trucks, and forcing Yingluck to move to an undisclosed location from a building where she was to give media interviews.

No doubt US news are by far more accurate than anything else us mere mortals hear or see here on the ground.

Except for False News, I give almost any US- press organisation a lot more credit, than almost every single Thai- journalist.
