Hippo Eats Dwarf

Featured Replies

that happened just before i came to live in thailand, so it was pretty much just on 7 years ago. i remember it clearly.

1998 Pattaya Mail:

Freak accident

A circus dwarf, nicknamed Od, died recently in the North when he bounced sideways from a trampoline and was swallowed by a yawning hippopotamus which was waiting to appear in the next act. Vets on the scene said Hilda the Hippo had a gag reflex which automatically caused her to swallow. They added in mitigation that the hefty creature was a vegetarian who had not previously digested a circus performer. Unfortunately, the 1000 plus spectators continued to applaud wildly until common sense dictated there had been a tragic mistake. Police said the trampoline has been sent for forensic analysis.

Man .... thats so funny I find it hard to even PRETEND to feign compassion :o

Here we have a serious thread about Hippos swallowing dwarfs and you guys have to besmirch it with your dirty gags. (no pun intended). :D

Where's all the mods this morning?

Why don't they clean up these threads and just leave the original OP's?

Let's have some decency around here :o

and rip to the dwarf.

I would like to know outcome of the investigation / forensics etc. These serious stories need a full and proper follow up.

Was the dwarf's family compensated for their loss?

Was the hippo punished/ deported/ put down ?.

Were the management/ owners responsible for this tragic accident found accountable ?

I for one will boycott all such future shows until measures / controls are put in place to ensure these mistakes are not repeated. :o:D:D

Being a herbivore, do you think it suffered from indigestion? :o:D

when telling that story, i actually had more than one person ask me if the dwarf survived! :o:D:D:D:D

It's just what I'd expect from the North of Thailand. Completely lawless and out of control. A poor circus dwarf can't even have a little bounce on a trampoline without getting swallowed by a hippo!

And what's with all these African Hippos? Who let them in? Do they have retiremnent visas or do they do visa runs? Ruining the country and giving the north a bad name :D

Wouldn't go near the North if I was you - its all gone to the hippos. :D

Sorry for the dwarf but the last sentence made me :o:D:D

LaoPo

Sorry to spoil the fun but this story was recently proved to be totally false. It was classed as an "Urban Legend" that has been propogated by gullible souls (and the Pattaya mail) on the internet.

If I can find a link I shall add it.

Sorry !

oh how disappointing!

errhhmm ! ! !.............you would prefer that the Hippo had actually ate the vertically challenged chappie ?

False reports in the news papers are like dyslexic dwarfs, they're not big and they're not clever :o

im joking, joyce!

Many years ago in Pattaya, after a drunken night out, I awoke and found a very short person in the bed with me.

My first thought was..."My God, I've sawed her in half!"

Then I realized she was a dwarf.

was it a half price bar fine

In true Thai Government style and even though the Dwarf eating episode had not as yet been authenticated several laws were passed in order to safeguard the Dwarf population.

1 All Dwarfs were banned from performing within one mile of a hippopotamus.

2 All trampolines had to be licensed.

3 Hippos were not allowed to yawn without putting their foot in front of their mouth.

4 People larger than 4 feet 9 inches were only allowed to take hippos into populated areas providing that the hippo was on a lead.

5. All Dwarfs were encouraged to take a `Stuck in the Tum of a Hippo` personal survival course.

6. All Regional Police Chiefs in conjunction with Animal Welfare Groups were ordered to crack down on all trampolining activities and several hippos were arrested trying to `Get their own back` by trampolining with open mouthed Dwarfs stood in attendance. :o

I saw a bear on a trampoline once.

Never saw a hippo.....or dwarf either, for that matter.
