We don't know how lucky we are.

When I first went to Indonesia with the family 26 years ago, there was a little Chinese shop sold bread made with a mix of rice flour and wheat flour.

Chiang Mai has almost everything.

You may find TOPS (in KSK) bakery to be acceptable, I like their whole wheat baguettes.

I am not sure where Huay Kaew residence is, but am guessing it is near KSK Shopping Center on Huay Kaew Road which is not close to the bakeries that I have mentioned.

If you have transportation, Baan Bakery is near Pratu (Gate) Chiang Mai. Butter is Better is near the Night Bazaar. You might be able to get JJ Bakery's whole wheat sandwich bread (I'm not sure what it is called on the label) at Tops in KSK as daoyai mentioned.

JJ Bakery's whole wheat sandwich bread was one of the first decent breads offered in Chiang Mai something like 20 years ago, but I still like it for sandwiches and toast to this day. It is not 100% whole wheat, but Butter is Better has genuine very decent 100% whole wheat bread if that is what you are looking for and Kasem's bakery will make it if you order in advance (their regular "whole wheat bread is something like 60% whole wheat flour).

I have recently started using this company - https://www.facebook.com/cmbread?fref=ts and are finding them very good. They do all kinds of white and wholemeal loaves, baguettes as well as delicious hummus and all natural peanut butter. Also, their products are cheap (better value than from Rimping) and are 100% vegan. This has been excellent for me as buying from the other places on here has proved a problem due to the ingredients they contain. This company also deliver to your house! I thought I'd let people know in case anyone else can take this advantage. By the way, I have no affiliation with them other than being a customer and want them to get more so that they will stay in business and I can continue to order bread from them!

Cheers

I also freeze mine. I get it made at Butter is Better and have them slice it and package it in two packages. that way I don't have it out as long.

Unfortunately for me Bread is not a doctor approved product. Some thing about carbs. So I get Whole Wheat. Some times 7 grain more carbs but a heck of a lot tastier.

You would think giving up chocolates would be a good enough thing now bread is there no end to the good stuff I am supposed to give up?

Yes that's a good idea I'm also going to be freezing mine. I think they like you to order 2 loaves at a time anyway to get the delivery for free, but if not I think it's only 10 BAHT.

Got a nice message back from them. Their hummus and PB looks good as do their breads and reasonably priced. Delivery is free if spending over 100 Baht.

Don't let anyone talk to you into giving up chocolate (unless it's KitKat) and bread (unlike you got celiac disease). One or two squares of dark chocolate (70% cocoa or over) and two slices of you favourite bread every day can be part of a healthy diet. Just stay reasonably active.

I am guessing that the doctor's advice is due to diabetes. One can eat those things, but in very small quantities. Dark chocolate and whole grain breads are both pretty healthy.

Not all metabolisms are the same. The same as people. I hate to do half a job. The cocoa bar 95% is about zero calories from sugar. But my chocolate taste runs to the other end of the scale. Never the less I will admit I am a cheater.smile.png

It actually makes it tough on me as I do like sandwiches.sad.png

Had a Reece's peanut butter chocolate peanut bar yesterday.facepalm.gif

It also tastes like crap. 78% is about as low as I can go and still enjoy it.

I agree it is an acquired taste, but I've become fond of it over a period of (long) time.

I used to have to put Sugar with two heaped teaspoons of cocoa, but now I can drink it without (with hot skim milk)

I find Milk Chocolate far too sweet.

My attempts at making stottie's haven't been too good, so simple I don't know why. Need to ask mam the secret when we go to England next month, but she forgets as much as she remembers nowadays. Unfortunately all of the old aunties have passed away, taking the family recipes with them.
