BANGKOK: -- Lampang police yesterday announced the arrest of four men with 224,000 yaba pills reportedly worth Bt77 million in street value while the suspects were allegedly transporting the drugs on a Chiang Mai-Bangkok bus.

It was reported the four were hired for Bt150,000 each by a drug ring run by a Phitsanulok Prison inmate. The men were arrested at a checkpoint in Lampang's Sop Prap district at 11.30pm Monday.

They reportedly confessed to having made runs like this twice before; once with 20,000 pills and the other time with 80,000 pills.

Meanwhile, Provincial Police Region 4 yesterday announced the arrest of student Chularat Utrasat, 21, along with 232kg of marijuana in Nakhon Panom's Ban Phaeng district at 2.40am Monday, while she and her boyfriend Anusorn Makong were allegedly transporting the drugs.

Other sting operations to capture Anusorn yielded another two male suspects who allegedly aided the marijuana-dealing ring.

"Four men" and "the four" never Thais. When a foreign man/men are bested it is clearly "foreigner," but when it's Thais or a Thai, it is men/man.

The problem with Thailand is that we never see the Thai Mr. Bigs behind all this drug trafficking and the upper money guys that finance all these mules. We only ever see the photography with the mules. We would like to see the Thai Mr. Bigs in the photography someday. That will signal that Thailand is then and only then serious about drug trafficking.

Never a truer word spoken, They never grasp the nettle!

It is time that Thailand followed the U.S. and other countries in regards to posession of marijuana, almost legal now in many countries, or at least decriminalized posession and yaba as well. I guess the boys at the top have too much to lose.

yaba possesion decriminalized. hell that's a great idea... not. nothing involving yaba should be considered ok. It causes a lot of grieve and problems all over, and too bad to say it is the users that are dangerous to the everyday man on the street. I understand they don''t make the sheit and are in fact many times 'victims' , but non the less they are very dangerous when having used or looking for their next fix. Legalize marihuana great! Yaba never!
