How much is not-promotional price for the same test after 31 December ?

See post 19

Post 19 gives a range of prices for a range of check ups.

I would also like to know the "regular price for THIS test that currently costs 2500b"? I assume that the regular price is 2600b which is why we don't get a straight answer.

No ultrasound of the stomach area to check kidneys, liver, gallbladder, bladder etc??  That quick, simple, non invasive test reveals a lot..............kidney stones, gall stones, liver condition, and more.

If not offered, then how much extra for it??

Posted

Did the promo thing a few days ago and felt it was good value.  The price of various check-up options is freely available at the check-up desk.  I took a print of the opening post on this thread but was not needed.  Have also been impressed with English-language feedback on this thread.  I also would like to know about the ultrasound test a previous poster asked about.

Our fee for ultrasound on upper OR lower abdomen is 1,000b, and 2,000b for the whole abdomen. These fees do not include the doctor's fee which is best obtained by phone in advance when making the appointment.

In each case the patient must fast for 4 hours before the appointment, and this includes no drinking, even water.

To clarify re the Check-Ups subject to offers until December 31st, those procedures are normally priced at 2,600b for men and 2,700b for women. At present we feel these prices can be held from January 1st onwards.

Due to internal pressure of work, and ethical restrictions on giving out general medical information to a wide audience, specific details will always be obtained more quickly by calling us on 053 801999, ext 177 from 8.30am to 5.00pm weekdays.

Why don't you simply call them to get your straight answers, I did.

B2,500 for a complete physical is too good to pass up- so yesterday I called and made an appointment for 9am (today.)

Arrived around 0850 and was immediately processed in, gave blood, urine sample, chest x-ray then an EKG.

All done by 0925 and was advised to have breakfast then return at 1100 for the consultation with the doc.

Back at 1055 and again, immediately was escorted to the docs office for consultation. He briefly explained the results and I was presented with a booklet summarizing my data.

Paid my bill and I was on my way. Great service and a bargain to boot.

Thumbs up Rajavej!

I would just like to follow up,

I notice that he is listed on the Thai Visa recommended list as an anesthesiologist (chronic pain syndrome).

I understand anesthesiology very well, but not quite sure of the connection to chronic pain syndromes as listed, can you advise please? I'm sure a lot of people have chronic pain of some kind and are looking for ways to deal with it.

This is how he is listed on TV, is there anything that should be clarified?

ANESTHESIOLOGY - (chronic pain syndromes)

Dr Srirath Chaiyaphruk – (is also a specialist in acupuncture)

That aside, very satisfactory and definitely worth every Baht!

Has Saskia come back as she left several months ago.

It wasn't Natasha by any chance?

Just curious.

We were happy to welcome back Saskia (USA), and she is with us Mondays to Fridays.

Sadly, Natasha (Philippines) left us some weeks ago to take up a full time post in the USA.

More information on your query re Dr Srirath as soon as possible after the holidays.

The compliments here are much appreciated and will be passed to all concerned internally.

Our very best wishes to all for a happy - and healthy - 2014.

I went today and decided against the promotional package because I wanted the whole abdomen ultrasound which is done by a qualified doctor. Everything was well managed and efficient and whilst not cheap I thought it value for money. Medical check-ups are a strange phenomenon because we all want a 'clean bill of health' which makes the whole process unnecessary but hey it is better than receiving bad news!

Previous check up about 3 years ago discovered that my wife was in the very early stages of TB and we were able to head off any major complications, that said there was 6 months of treatment. So prevention, via check up, lead to the cure!

Yes that is when check-ups are a great help. i'm pleased everything turned out well for your wife.

I think a hospital like Rajavej could really be onto something if they offered some serious discounting on ThaiVisa for check ups, including ultra sound, colonoscopy, gastroscopy etc. I look at various hospital websites and they invariably also offer discounts, but on the same things. All good, but could do better in a competitive market.

Must say it's nice to be talking to, asking questions and getting a response from Rajavej.

This may sound silly. May I assume that there will be English speaking doctors and staff there? Thanks.

Yes

Thanks 'Thailand'.

Almost all our 40 Doctors and 3 Dentists have fluent English, and our team of interpreters have English, Thai, Japanese, Filippino and Myanmar. We also have interpreters in other languages on call as the need arises.

In answer to other recent posts, if you have had problems reaching us by phone, please report these in detail on e-mail to: [email protected]

Also please specify if it was the operator on 053 801999 or International Relations ext 177 who didn't answer.

Unfortunately we do not offer the PLAC test for LP-pla 2 and know of no other hospital in the north that does so.

As soon as we have information from Dr Srirath re the chronic pain inquiry it will be posted here.

Thanks again for your responses and Happy New Year.

I'm not surprised that the PLAC test isn't available in the north and I very much doubt it's available in the south either, but would be interested to know so I've sent an email to BR in BKK. Standard lipid profile tests (whilst well worth knowing as a marker) are not proven reliable predictors of stroke and 50% of heart attacks occur in people with normal cholesterol. Most CV events are due to plaque rupture and the higher the level  of Lp-PLA, the higher the risk of a CV problem, even with normal LDL.

A PLAC test will give a much better indication.

You can get a calcium score test at RAM, that's fairly reliable.

Not right now, prefer to go with blood tests first, though I'm sure BRR blood test price might be as high as Rams CCS. I'll let you know.... if they decide to answer.

It seems they don't do the PLAC blood test in Thailand. However, here's the information I just received from Bumrungrad Hospital.

Lab test : PLAC Test for Lp-PLA2

1.This test is performed by Mayo Clinic U.S.A.

2.Cost = 12,500 baht.

3.Turnaround time = 14 days.

( Blood specimen : Should be collected on Saturday to Tuesday.)

The above estimated costs do not include;

  • The estimated doctor’s consultation fee may range from 500 – 2,000 Baht / doctor / OPD visit, although in some cases depending on various factors, the fee might vary from the estimate range.
  • Any expenses not related to the procedure
  • Costs arising from complications, such as additional medical conditions that may require special treatment during or after the procedure
  • Any follow up costs
  • Take-home medication and medical supplies

OK so we now know how to get Calcium Scoring and PLAC test for LP-pla 2 done in Thaiand + cost.

Thanks to Rajavej for letting me use this thread and to Chiang Mai for mentioning Ram for Calcium scoring.

Email from Ram below.

Perhaps moderators might consider adding this to the Doctor thread as it's good information.

Rajavej could then have it deleted it if they wanted to.

Greetings from Chiangmai Ram Hospital.

Regarding your e-mail, Chiangmai Ram Hospital does provide calcium score
test and it will cost 6,000 THB. Doctor Fee 300-500 THB.

Please feel free to visit our cardio clinic at 4th floor for your
requested, everyday open 09:00 am -05:00 pm.

Sincerely yours,

Another good reason to have this done is the increasing awareness of the link between LDL and Alzheimer's, it's one thing to feel that your cholesterol levels are OK from a cardio perspective but it's something else when you start to consider dementia - all the more reason to understand and manage cholesterol levels.

Whilst this thread is back--'Up and Running'--does anyone know what the current price for Male Health Test screening is--are they offering any discounts, at the moment?
