Pheu Thai blasts protests for country's massive revenue loss

BANGKOK, 20 December 2013 (NNT) - The Pheu Thai party has accused leaders of the anti-government movement of damaging the country’s economy, causing 70 billion baht in revenue loss so far.

Former Energy Minister and Pheu Thai party member Pichai Naripthaphan said the figure is expected to grow if the political protests linger into next year. The tourism sector is set to be worst hit by prolonged rallies.

He elaborated that the movement’s calling for the cancellation of a general election in February would further erode foreign investor confidence. Foreign investors in the Thai stock market have already sold off more than 200 billion baht worth of shares, and production bases of major companies have been relocated to other countries.

Mr Pichai urged all sides to respect the rule of law and support the election next year as a way to solve the political impasse.

Would you like to tell us how much of that happened before the protests started Mr minister.

Run us through the numbers for the first three quarters of the year and show us how well PT has done up to the start of the protests.

A few from memory :

Exports down

Manufacturing down

Consumer confidence down

Corruption up

Public and private debt up

Yep blame the protests.

How much revenue was lost during the 2010 red shirt / ptp protests?

Then again after it was all said and done the red shirts created jobs in the construction industry by burning down buildings that need to be re-built

Guess it is only ok when Thaksin and the reds protest

Well there is the old addage " Never invest what you can't afford to loose! Foreign Investers know all too well that in Thailand that really is the case. They are fed up with the BS politics of Thailand.

Thailand is like a casino. The house always has the advantage in every game. But you can run a good shoe now and then, but eventually, the cards turn and you have to push away from the table.

Whereas people have been flocking-in, to see the wondrous success of the government's innovative rice-pledging scheme, which has added 25% to GDP, erm ... and all the poor farmers have bought new sports-cars using BAAC-loans, and the technical-recession on Q2/Q3 was all Suthep's fault ? blink.png

Vote for Us ! You Know It Makes No Sense ! whistling.gif

Blame game ONLY Blame game, SAVE FACE TO FACE TO FACE he did it, she did, they did it, not my fault

Yep blame the protests.

Production shut down due to lack of any flood control, manufacturers fleeing to avoid corrupt import duties, businesses fleeing to avoid the new minimum wage which is by far the highest among Burma, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam and others.

No one ever even thought they would blame the protesters, this is a complete shock-right out of the blue. all the posters are stunned.clap2.gifcheesy.gif

70 billion in lost revenue!!w00t.gif

Just about enough to keep the rice-scam going for another couple of months!coffee1.gif

This was inevitable. Obviously their way of telling their stupid voters that the shit they have mired everyone in, is purely the making of the Dems and the protesters.

Way to go... Despite the fact their vote buying populist policies have hit the country for well over a trillion baht up to now.

Why don't they explain that every day Yimgluk and Thaksin cling to power, another billion is lost. It can all be stopped in one day. but they prefer Thailand the way it is.

Well... This is the way it is..... enjoy.

Any day now I expect to hear that the reason the farmers haven't been paid is because the caretaker government can't transfer money to the BAAC. If the protesters hadn't forced an election, the cheques would have been sent months ago.

yeh so lets see the numbers

reply - what numbers ? we don't keep numbers otherwise we'd all be in jail

end

Ooooooh. What next.

The crappy weather is the protests fault?

But it is ! All the politicians' hot-air is upsetting the global-climate ! rolleyes.gif

Remember, you read it first here on ThaiVisa ! laugh.png

Perhaps one of Thaksin's PTP's election-policies should be, a Crackdown on Massive Revenue Losses ? whistling.gif

That's right PTP. Only you lot are allowed to make Thailand suffer. xsick.gif.pagespeed.ic.MPO6H9qvs0.webp

70 billion, from tourists ?

and still claiming they only bring in about 6% of the economy...

what about the money losing rice/flood scams ???

It's as plain as the nose on your face. They have huge losses that the country is not even fully aware of yet, so they can now start attributing massive sums, such as the nonsensical 70 billion that has already been mentioned, to the anti-government protesters.

They will secretly be hoping that the protests continue for as long as possible so they can double the amount of this blame-shifting sum every week, and eventually shift the blame for the entire rice failure on to the demonstrators.

Well there is the old addage " Never invest what you can't afford to loose! Foreign Investers know all too well that in Thailand that really is the case. They are fed up with the BS politics of Thailand.

there are better places to invest now and many like me.. Don't like the overt corruption here so we are relocation our business.

Pheu Thai blasts protests for country's massive revenue loss

Would this particular statement indicate that in reality the puppet masters commission payment income cash flow has dropped in volume?whistling.gif

Of course as has already been stated none of the problems are due to flawed policies and misdirected funds are they?.post-4641-1156693976.gif

The protests have almost certainly help damage the country's revenue stream but are insignificant compared to the damage caused by the rice fiasco.

And it should be remembered the protests would not have happened at all but for PT's underhand handling of the amnesty bill.

The blame for most of the country's current financial woes can be laid fairly and squarely at PT's door in Dubai.

27 posts and not one in praise of PTP. Where's the counsel for the defense team?

Where are you guys? Surely all these posters can't be speaking the truth about the Puea Thai Party?

It can't all be bad news surely?

Whats the point. Anyone who posts anything even slightly positive about the government or negative about the opposition will be howled down and branded as a Mr T lover or red shirt by you lot. I think most have just given up. Interesting how so many of the govt. haters on here have only been members for a couple of months and have hundreds of posts already all pushing the same old anti Mr T, vote rigging, corruption etc, etc. line. As if they are the only side with their noses in the trough.

No point at all. Absolutely right. Somebody who has finally awakened to Thaksin's role and culpability in all this. You'll find things much clearer with your eyes open. Congratulations!
