International flora show kicks off in Chiang Rai

CHIANG RAI, 21 December 2013 (NNT) -- The international flora show in Chiangrai kicked off yesterday evening, with thousands of tourists attending the opening ceremony.

According to Wanchai Chongsuthamanee, the Chiangrai Mayor, the Chiang Rai’s 10th flower festival is aimed at boosting the province's tourism and related sectors by attracting larger numbers of both foreign and local tourists.

This year, the city has added more interesting shows, such as modern-style gardens boasting more than 60 different kinds of flowers, flower tunnels, light and sound shows as well as traditional art performances by ethnic minorities in the province.

The city has been prepared for the event for several months and Wanchai expressed his confidence that, with its special events plus picturesque mountainous terrain, mild weather, and culture richness, Chiang Rai is gearing up to be one the most popular tourism centers in northern Thailand.

Scant info here. I'd be nice to know how long it runs.

There are two being advertised around town. One runs until Jan 5 and the other Jan 20. I am just guessing but this one is probably the Jan 5th location on the river.

The one on the river is a great location and worth a visit most years.

Just went to the one by the River. Nice to photograph there because the sun is shining on the plants and flowers. The one at Suan Tung is back-lighted and more difficult to Photograph...
