BMA to ensure public safety and security of government offices during December rally

BANGKOK, 22 December 2013 (NNT) – Bangkok is preparing security measures for Bangkok residents and government offices after political demonstrators announced that they would stage another rally on December 23.

M.R. Sukhumbhand Paripatra, the Governor of Bangkok, has held a meeting of BMA's executives on how to deal with political rallies by the anti-government protesters on December 23. The demonstrators, according to the Governor, will conduct several activities, including large public stages at five locations and mobile rallies at 11 locations.

Since the rallies may affect traffic and public safety, as well as government buildings and offices, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has assigned municipal officers to help direct traffic at various roads and intersections. Tow trucks will be deployed to assist disabled vehicles, while ambulances, medics, and physicians will be on standby at 30 locations.

Suthep thanks all protesters. "Today it shows that our love for the country overcomes fear."

Suthep: We will wait to see reports by local media to see if the media are free or they are slaves.

Suthep: We are not destroying democracy but you are, Yingluck.

Suthep: If EC still still inisits to go ahead with the Feb 2 election, it challenges the people. We shall see to that.

Suthep: When will the rally end? We'll fight on until Govt is out. Don't ask me when..
