Merry Xmas .

Merry Christmas to all, stay safe out there !!!

And to everyone here - Seasonal cheer . . .

. . . followed by a greeting to the old country from an exile on an island . . .

It comes around in every year

hundreds of presents and not much less cheer

the families and in-laws and port wine and cheese

the cards, decorations, and big Christmas trees

but here where I live we don't get much snow

and it's really quite different with the festivities

we got lights that go twinkle, we got pork crackle-ing

but carols are something Thai people don't sing

they got one that goes "jinga ben, jinga ben"

but, really, "jingle bells" has much nicer ring

the other thing we don't got is nice Christmas trees

pine cones and fir trees we don't see a lot

so we must make do with the trees that we got

they've tried coconuts and even mango

but there's no side branches and they just grow so slow

so they tried curry trees and even sultanas

but the best thing they found . . .

was a tree of bananas
