My wife and I arrived on the island this morning after trying to sleep in the car at the ferry terminal last night, my wife's son and his family will be flying in tonight. I am currently sitting in the food court in Tesco trying to think of things we can do as a family tomorrow and the remaining three days we will have here, the son's family is two adults, a teenager and a ten month old baby, any suggestions from locals with families?

Book a day @ Paradise park farm from one of the kiosks in tescos. It's a mountaintop zoo & is great for families, inc those with small children. If you wish to stay closer try fairways soft play area near the airport.

Daytrip snorkeling trip to the national park islands or nang yuan island near koh tao.

The baby can stay on the boat with parents while others go snorkeling.

For the trip to nang yuan, I recommend taking the catamaran.

We went to Paradise Farm yesterday, we all love birds so that was great. After looking at the birds and hand feeding some, and playing with the baby corella we decided to follow the path on the map, definitely a good workout, everyone's legs felt like jelly after climbing all the stairs. Thanks for the recommend, we had a great time, off to the elephant ride and then the tiger zoo today.

Elephant trek is ok, I wouldn't recommend the tiger zoo however, the shows are ok (there are at 13:30 and 14:30) but the rest of the zoo and the 'aquarium' are dirty and depressing. I've been to loads of zoo's etc here and the ones in touristy areas always disappoint. The aquarium and zoo in suphan buri is a stark contrast to the places run by greedy people.

Wifey and some friends went to the Tiger Farm yesterday and had a great time. thumbsup.gif

They said that it was very good and didn't stop flapping their arms for ages. (Sea lion impressions clap2.gif !)

All of that and not a G & T in sight whistling.gif

We all had a good time on the island, the only let down for my wife's family was the lack of sunshine until the day we left. My wife and I stayed at the Bed and Breakfast Service Guesthouse which doesn't have a kitchen and so doesn't serve breakfast, but it is centrally located near Tresco, Makro and Big C, across the road from the entrance to the International Hospital, there is also a carwash a couple of doors down that doesn't charge any more than 350 Baht, the owner says he likes to help the poor people.
