ANGTHONG: -- A house in Angthong has crumbled and fallen down, very likely because of a sudden change in water level in the Noi River, according to provincial disaster-prevention-and-mitigation chief Chatnarong Siriporn na Ratchasima.

He said yesterday that the river's water level had gone down drastically and soil along the banks might not have been able to adjust.

"It had long been saturated with water," he said after inspecting the site where the house crumbled on Saturday.

However, Chatnarong said he would still ask authorities to conduct an examination and help determine the exact cause of the collapse.

Haha. Way too close.

If you do that, you need pilings and not a couple of concrete sticks formed over a wire cage.

Another half a story with no answers or conclusions. Investigative journalism is certainly not alive and well here lol

"why" did the water level drop suddenly for example.

The level of engineering is mind boggling.. i don't understand why it would fall?

Quickest way to convert a house into a bungalow.

I would say to close to the edge.

Maybe it wasn't close to the edge and maybe 10 to 20 ft of land has been washed away..

You're being far too generous in your assumption. Building over klongs, drainage ditches and rivers here is natural occurrence. My question is... 'Why is this news?'
