Which bars have the South African tv that should be playing English soundtrack? Irish Pub has it but I don't want to go there. The Pub?, O'Malley's? Only want to see the England matches in bar enviroment. Radio 5 Live on bbc radio will be playing English commentry, so just need to move pc into to my tv room. Listening to cricket right now, & very clear, no break ups & that's on gprs!!! Mind you the cricket's pretty depressing with England collapsing.

Have you not read that theres no streaming outside UK

If Inet Radio station is transmitting the matches I'm assuming you should be able to listen. However guess we'll have to wait and see.

Will there be a chance that the bars will close over the weekend due to the King's long celebration?

So now I don't know whether to watch it at the Vic or stroll down Loi Kroh on Saturday and pic a bar with a good TV. I sure imagine there will be more people about down Loi kroh.

I thought you were doing the Jai Yen cafe, Ash?

Well I went there on saturday to intoduce myself to jeff and he was nowhere to be seen, the place is nice and same sort of size TV as the Vic but its a bit small.

I was expecting a post from jeff aka pikey (unless igot members mixed up) as I left a note for him although I know that don't mean he got it.

The Vic had a great feel like being back in my local at home and Loi Kroh had a great feel that there will be loads of people to celebrate with.

Still not sure where I'll watch it yet, but it'd be nice to be certain that someone had the means to get a live feed in if there defo is no English commentary. Ian at the Vic seems pretty resourceful and, yeah, I reckon the atmosphere would be good if busy... aircon as well if it gets a bit steamy.

I'm just hoping the coming coronation celebrations don't shut the bars as that would be a major anticlimax.

Hi Ash, I was out getting wet on my bike and I didn't know you popped in on saturday as I never got a noten - sorry that I missed you. I had a friend in town for a few days so was taking him around a bit.

Regarding the footie, I will be showing all the England games (including the late one on 21/9). I run a laptop tied into a surround sound system so will have the commentary through there but have just started checking the sites recommended by p1p and they seem to be in Chinese!!! Will crack on and see what we get but I guess we won't know for sure until friday......

Sorry again to have missed you. :o

Well I was only going to Pattaya for a couple of days but may stay longer. There are 3 bars that I know of that are confirmed as being set up with South African link with the English commentary (Jamiesons, Shenanigans and the new joint out by the lake). Any bar keep fancy shelling out the 50k to get set up and maybe charge a token admission or 5baht on a beer to recoup??

Our local boozer is thankfully a Football Free Zone...should be nice.. :o

P.S.

Away in a manger No crib for a bed The little Lord Jesus STOOD UP AND HE SAID..

Because of the recently announced holiday tomorrow and the uncertaintly regarding alcohol sales, me and the missus have decided to take advantage of the long weekend and b*gger off with some mates to Si-Sa-Ket to watch the annual Ban Fai madness. Therefore the Jai-Yen Cafe will be closed from tomorrow and re-open tuesday.

Cheers,

Pikey.

Was in the LK Chiang Mai Saloon last night and Ron advised that both the Saloons will have English commentary but they will like most others be closed Friday.

Is he on this Angel Jsat system or whatever it's called, or just saying that to get the punters in? Only the hotels are getting the special UBC packages and the internet here is too sketchy for streaming anything reliably. I hear the new Saloon's ok. May give it a go and if the krap, krap supersaves start up, time for a quick exit. Obviously can't test anywhere tonight as the bars are shut.

So where's everyone going? Ash, what are you doing?

Well I think first half Queen Vic if no atmosphere by half time shall go down Loi Kroh.

Just watching germany match through UBC and Terestiral TV no english soundtrack and the "kraps" are already getting to me.

When masher says he was in LK CM saloon does he mean Loi Kroh?

Jackr you want to meet up in the vic if its crap at half time your more than welcom to jump my GF's pic up with us and take a look down Loi Kroh?

What you think.

"krap"

............."krap"

"krap"

Yes I was in Loi Kroh and Ron stated that he had just shelled out 60k to get both Saloons up and running with English commentary and he was in the process of having a vinyl sign put up stating exactly that so I would presume he can be taken at his word. I'll be in the one next to the UN Irish place tomorrow at 8 and will post results later if you wish.

One is next to the UN Irish pub on Rajwiti Road and this is by far the larger of the 2. The original Saloon is towards the bottom of Loi Kroh just before you get to the square with all the bars and the boxing arena on the right as you come down from the moat end. Its 100 mtrs before the Dangtawan hotel. I have been in there twice in the last 10 days and it has been deserted but maybe the football will change that? If the Queen Vic is dead walk around the corner to the Rajwiti Saloon and try that if you want.

Eighty nine posts just for a game of football, and 25 of them from agsnowdon who seems to be a little confused with Chiangmai's geography.

Really fellas, there are far more important sporting events on this weekend. :o
