PDRC targets 20 major sites for January 13 mass demonstrations

BANGKOK: -- The People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) has revealed 20 major intersections, commercial and shopping locations where mass demonstrations will be held on January 13 so that the people could choose which place is convenient for them to participate.

The 20 places disclosed so far are Uruphong, Charoenpol, Hua Lampong (Bangkok Railway Station), Bang Rak, Silom, Sam Yarn, Phaya Thai, Ratchathevi, Victory Monument, Siam Square, Ha Yaek Lard Prao, Din Daeng, Prathunam, Rajprasong, and Lumphini.

Besides these 20 locations, there will also be small locations connected to these places where traffic jams could happen and therefore could be turned into rally sites, the PDRC leader Suthep Thaugsuban said.

These mentioned locations will be occupied by demonstrators all day and night with several activities to be held to entertain participants and educate them on national reform.

Suthep said the occupations of these locations would last several days and not just on January 13 but continue until the caretaker prime minister resigns which might take days, or weeks and months.

"and educate them on national reform". Sounds like Lenin or Mao.

I'm bored with this nonsense already.

Well Bangkok, your savior has now revealed his plans to screw you all. Wonder how long his support will last then?

We have jumped from a protest for the Amnesty Bill to a total break down of civil disobedience , it go's without saying that give the man an inch he will take a mile, one wounders whether the backing required for Suthep's programme is really there or we have a lot of blust and blather , which ever way Suthep go's he must be sure that people right throughout Thailand are behind him, I am not so sure , I think the majority stopped at the Amnesty Bill.bah.gif

Oh well.....at least they havn't named Nan Plaza on their list.....although I dare say it would have added some further entertainment!

And were you one of the red cheerleaders in 2010, supporting the red shirts, who did the same for 2 months, but also with armed 'security', lobbing grenades at the public ?

Given your post, I assume that you must have utter disdain for Juttaporn, Nuttawat, Arisman, Seh Daeng, etc., and the man that financed their nasty display.

Off you go then mate. Lead from the front and all that.

Likely a coup by the end of the month if these get off as planned. Unfortunate that cooler heads can't prevail here.

That would be a real clash, one would imagine that most of the bed warmers employees in Nana Plaza are from Issan and are Reds that would be loosing their income, I could just picture 3 inch stilettos high heel shoes being used as weapons.

Close but the wrong side; it's more like Mussolini and Franco. Through propaganda and more ruthless mechanisms, they also sought to suppress any dissident view through censorship, coercion and the targeting of individuals. They never held the majority's support but they ruled anyhow through "political reform". It's all very similar.

Easy solution. Don't read about it.

It's just getting interesting as we move towards the end game.

Personally, I hold them all in contempt. But, since you mention the man financing the reds' "nasty display", have you any idea how much of who's money has been put behind this current, slick, multimedia extravaganza? It make the reds' set up, at Ratchaprasong, look like a simple family picnic! This isn't backed by humble shop keepers and office workers.

All these clowns have their benefactors. None of them are what they present themselves to be. All this, from both sides, has nothing to do with "the people".

Everyone is being used. Unfortunately, "the people", as always, are the one's who will lose.

Mussolini definitely comes to mind!

One can assume that Thailand has already 'lost face' big time internationally for not ending this chaos sooner..... now this thug wants to make it worse. How long will the people of BKK tolerate this level of disruption of their city, to their lives etc..? It is not for a good cause..... and its most certainly not for the 'masses'. The masses already spoke at the last election - no level of 'reform', apart from disenfranchising everyone north of BKK, will change that.

The Reds have vowed to keep BKK open, so it seems that battle lines have been drawn. I doubt whether the Police can handle this alone (there's already dissent in the ranks), so the Army will have to get involved..... civil war? Another Coup? Who knows.... but what is certain is that Thailand will rapidly descend to the status of a 'failed state'.....if it hasn't already. In this sate, other things begin to happen, especially around the borders.... so while the army is busy sorting out internal problems in and around BKK, you can be sure the insurgency in the south will become more active. And it won't stop at just the 3 southern provinces... it will be 15. So, by the time the southerners return home, they may find the situation very different - what a perfect political irony that would be! We will then have to get used to living in the People's Democratic Republic of Thailand.... if we are allowed to stay here or have moved out on our own volition....now that's an idea!

I have utter disdain for any of those persons red ,yellow, little green men or whatever who are yet again crapping on the country we have chosen as our home.

Currently Suthep is causing, and about to cause more grief than anybody has for many years and is top of my personal disdain list.

The reason this will work is because it worked in the Philippines after Marcos... No wait.

Don't laugh!! I was stationed at Clark AFB. and they had a demonstation that blocked all 3 gates at Clark. the local police and the base SP'S could not do anything. After about a week of the bars not having customers the ladies of the night took over and kicked the crap out of the protestors in just one evening. The gates were reopened and PUZZY POWER PREVAILED!!!.thumbsup.gif

Nobody want to make it worst.

Suthep want to make a fair and corruption free society. I wish him success.

20 places to protest on but only 15 listed, that says all about his maths. Nothing good in that head.

The reds have been ranting on that Suthep never says just what he means by reforms and now he is going to tell people look at the silly name calling he gets.

Do you know who is Suthep ? Palm oil, land in Phuket,... So please find another reason to praise him, but definitly not corruption free country with this man onboard

Suthep's getting on a bit so I hope he doesn't suffer a stroke or heart attack what with all his gallivanting about and can't get to hospital because of the crowds. That'd be the backfire to end all backfires.
