Clarence Thomas is an example of an incompetent who was appointed to an important position. He has been a disgrace to the. court since then. Mr. Kent was given an opportunity and he could not deliver. He had already caused problems and was previously taken to task, with the message to stay in his lane. Last October, he stuck his head into a file that was outside his jurisdictional authority and which alarmed even the authoritarians in the Trump administration. The intelligence services are not legally allowed to spy on US citizens or to undertake activities in the USA. The FBI has the responsibility for domestic law enforcement. Mr. Kent undertook a review of the Charlie Kirk murde Mr. Kirk was killed in the USA, by another US national. Mr. Kent's involvement was neither requested, nor authorized nor even justified. This event caused serious embarrassment for the US government. There were concerns raised as to what other domestic. operations Kent and associates were implicated in. I expect that Kent's activities were a crisis waiting to happen and that his days were already numbered. Congressional members were already looking into allegations of domestic spying. It will be interesting to see how Mr. kent's supporters are going to square the circle on the domestic spying concerns. Whatever one's politics are, the optics of an intelligence agency that does not have a mandate to undertake domestic spying, doing just that, is a political grenade ready to detonate.
