Thai Restaurant In The Sticks.

Featured Replies

Recommendations sort for good Thai owned ( or any with ###### good Thai chefs ) restaurants out around the mabprachan area. KJ's is not up to the mark and my wife is nagging/moaning that since the mug left the Fisherman's after his staff all left him, her fix of spice in reasonable surroundings is extremely difficult to come by. Pllllleeeaaase help !

Can't help much, but hre's a few comments.

The first few times we went to KJ it wasn't bad at all (according to wife) then it seemd to go off. They are very busy most nights, and I think they have more than one chef. If you catch the good one it's Ok.

Theres' a Thai place next to KJ which we tried yonks ago.(Siriporn I think). Ok-ish but not special.

The Fisherman's rest has changed hands and they have new cooks. The farang food is very good, but no idea about the Thai food.

There is a large Thai Reastaurant in Pong, about 5 mins form the lake.If you go round the lake , and instead of going straight down the 3240 towards Na Klua/ Pattaya, you take a right for Pong and the main Bangkok/Rayong highway. just before Wat Pong you will see a Coca Cola Sign on the left. Turn left into the short driveway and you will find quite a sizeable restaurant. I went there once in the afternoon and it was shut, so no idea what the food is like, but it is all Thai - menu in Thai. Might be worth a try.

There's a few other places scattered around but we haven't tried them. We tend to eat at home most of the time or go into Pattaya.

Let me know if you find anything good :o

Cheers mate. I will be back in my little white house on Moo 9 Pong at the end of the month. Sadly minus wife for a couple of days, so beer will be the nutrient of choice. I was in hope of a recommendation I could take back to HK to get in her good books, and pretend I had actually eaten solids !!! Not sure I will have the time to look myself Chorttle Chorttle.

Not Maprachan, but only a 15min. drive away. Name - Sure Park. Phone - 017420625. If you start at the bottom end of Soi Nung Plabwan ( I can never spell that ) at the temple and go towards Sukhumvit for about 1 km. On your left there's Soi 24, m/c shop on corner. Turn left up soi 24 and drive for 1 1/2 kms. Sure Park is on the right. They have sign and carpark at front and a big overspill c/park at rear. Owner is Thai and speaks good English. Food is farang and Thai. Inside and o/side seating. Great Sunday roast.

I am not connected to this place, but eat there often. :o:D

Totally agree. I went with my wife 2 times recently. The first time (evening) was not that great. Second time we had a lunch, and the food was excellent.

Well, we are also looking for some good alternatives around Maprachan...so I will would lcve to get any more recommendations.

Cheers

Maybe we can slowly try all the ones around here and report back. Have to get the wife's/GF's opinions though, coz our opinion on Thai food aint worth a shit. :o

BTW the Peackock's Thai food is dreadful, and I wouldn't dare take the wife to the Black Pearl or Butterfly - strictly off limits.

the only thing on their menu's is "hoy ala' fat pig" :D
