The place on Thapae you referred to got rid of about 60% of their straps to make room for the optical business so give it a pass. Great for repairs, not for straps anymore. If you go up Chang Phueak starting at the moat there are about 4 or 5 watch/clock shops on the L side all next to each other about 100 meters? up (I'm not good at estimating distance), but not far. I found some decent straps there about a year ago, not too expensive and good quality.

I too, am looking for a strap for my Wenger watch at the moment. Last night I happened to be in Central Festival and when I came up through the car park I noticed a place called Time Clinic or something like that on the ground floor. So I decided to look at what they had. The first strap the guy showed me was O.K. nothing special. I asked how much and the guy tells me 6,800 Baht! I said no thanks, what else do you have? He pulls out another strap that was ugly as hell and said 1,800 Baht. I asked if the prices could be discounted and the guy gave me a very unfriendly 'mai dai" at which point I left. I've had many Swiss watches refurbished at Charoensilp before (place on Thapae) and a good imported strap costs about 500-800 Baht while a Chinese one maybe 300 Baht. So there is a reason why people are walking around CF like zombies not buying anything.

good recommendation this, thanks again. three or four shops in a row on the left hand side all with plenty of watch straps and bracelets to choose from. prices reasonable, they alter it and fit it to the watch for you while you wait. job jobbed.

Can you please tell me if they are on the road running alongside the moat or the one heading north.

the road going north from the gate, think it's the 107. probably about 400m up on the left just before the traffic lights where you turn right into the bus station. you'll see a few watch logos, rolex, seiko, timex etc.
