Hi residents of Hua Hin

What hints, tips and useful bits of advice would you like to share with someone who has just moved to the area.

It could be absolutely anything from the best coffee shop, gym/fitness centre, beach or noodles to the best place to get a haircut or my motorbike serviced - if you think it is worth mentioning then share it here.

Think back to when you just moved to HH what bits of info would you wish that someone had told you in the early days of you living in the city.

FYI - I have moved to the Tippawan village area

Thanks in advance

When I think back to when I first moved here I was just wishing there was a (real) supermarket and a hardware store besides the small Thai ones. You'll have no problem finding (almost) whatever you want now in Hua Hin.

I am also living in Tippawan area. I have many Facebook pages that can help you, you can also chat via Facebook.> https://www.facebook.com/rick.vanheijningen

Facts about Hua hin
In Hua Hin you can find everything that you can expect from a vacation and even more. Hua Hin is located 200 kilometres south of Bangkok, in the province of Prachuabkirikhan, on the west side of Siam bay.
The city is characterized strongly by it’s royal relations. Already 1920 King Rama VII built his summer resort Klai Kangwon Palace (“far away from worries”). The name does well agree with the city pulse of today, who has continued it’s development as a seaside resort for the Thai upper class. Here you can relax on shallow white beaches, enjoy the food on a local Thai restaurant or play golf on one of many beautiful golf courses nearby.
The harbour is the heart of the city. Here you can find a long row of fish restaurants and here, as well as in all Thailand, you can eat both very tasty and cheap. After a tasty dinner many people visit the “Night market” – the best place to shop T-shirts, “pirate copies”, souvenirs, electronics and much more.
If you want to make an outing there are much to see and do in the surroundings. Fore example: two of Thailand’s biggest Nationals parks; the river Kwai with it’s famous iron bridge (built by Japanese prisoners during world war two); the old town Petchaburi with beautiful temples, wood made houses and buildings are not to forget.

Since Hua Hin is a fishing village you can find plenty of nice fish restaurants that serves delicious plates to beneficial prices. If you wish to try the original Thai kitchen – why not try a Thai tavern right on the street!
In Hua Hin you can also find entertainment with pubs, discos, Thai boxing, traditional Thai dance and much more.
Shopping
There are a lot of shopping in Hua Hin. You can find shopping centres as well as the daily “Night market” located in the middle of Hua Hin city. It is very cheap to buy clothes and there are many tailors with high quality.
Play golf
Hua Hin has seven golf courses nearby. Each one with it’s own character and charm in various difficulties – from easy park courses to demanding championship courses. Our own favourite, Springfield, is designed by Jack Nicklaus.
The closest one is Hua Hin Royal Golf Course who is located near the railway station in the middle of the city. The other five courses are located no longer than 20 minutes from the area. You can also find several more courses within decent distance.

Suan Son Beach
A great alternative to Hua Hin main beach
Suan Son Beach has now become a weekend getaway for Thai families as well as the top choice on the place to visit list of the foreigners who come to spend their leisure here in Hua Hin
Suan Son Pradipaht or Sea Pine Tree Garden is located in a military camp about 9km south of Hua Hin. This beach has long been accepted as one of the most popular beaches in Hua Hin. Belonging to the Army Welfare office, the beach is open from around 5.30 am until midnight.
How to go
Suan Son Beach is located within easy reach. It is at Km. 241 on Petchkasem Rd. only 9km from the centre of Hua Hin. You can take Tuk-Tuk, Songtaew, motorbike or your own vehicle. There is a low entrance fee of 10 baht for motorbikes, 20 baht for cars and 40-80 baht for buses (depending on the size). Go get refreshed at this famous beach, relax and enjoy the view of this beautiful beachside area. It can be assured that it is the best way to spend any of your free days.
A tranquil and relaxing place to visit
This amazing beach in Hua Hin gives you a glimpse of genuine Thai beach life. It is one of the places you might want to consider, when escaping from the commercial tourism. Suan Son Beach was officially opened to the public as a tourist destination at the end of 2001.
The beach is very good for swimming and other beach activities, with fewer rocks than there are at Hua Hin main beach. The remarkable feature of this beach, as the name suggests, is the Sea Pine trees (Son) that grow in rows giving an orderly look.
These Pine trees provide adequate shade for one to sit and relax while admiring the beauty of nature, cool sea breeze touching ones face calmly. The vast area of Suan Son Beach makes it possible for various kinds of group activities such as football, which always is an almost permanent feature of this beach. Taking a walk on the white powdery sand along this beach is another almost certain thing one would to coming to this beach in Hua Hin.
Get a comfortable stay here
Another reason why people keep coming to this Suan Son Beach is because of the variety of accommodation that is available here. Hotels and bungalows with required facilities in this delightful atmosphere is the ideal place to spend your time. You have a wide range of types and price of the room you want to stay in. The price of hotel rooms ranges between 1,600 baht to 7,000 baht per night for general people. As for bungalows, the price ranges from 1,800 baht to 3,400 baht. Get full rest in these well-maintained accommodations at Suan Son Beach and rejuvenate yourself, receive the fresh and cheerful feeling nature will provide. Though Suan Son Beach is billed as one of the most popular beaches in Hua Hin where people prefer to pay a visit and spend their time, it retains its beauty and freshness perfectly well.
Feel free to enjoy yourself in a safe place
One major advantage of this place is the soldiers belonging to the military camp who take care of the place, so the tourists and the guests who stay in the area will feel safe. You may even take a tour around this spacious camp to get a better idea and feel of the place. The well-laid garden is another attractive element here. Various restaurants serve a wide variety of food at reasonable prices. Be happy and relaxed to the full extent, on the sandy beach that virtually connects to Khao Tao which is some 3 kilometers to the south. The sparkling sea in the front, Khao Tao on your right, Khao Takiab on your left is one of the rare views you can have only here
