Psychiatric Assessment Service in CM

Featured Replies

Can any CM members please share some information in regard to the availability of psychiatric assessment services in CM.

Here's the brief picture: older western gentleman may be able to get an increase in his state pension if he can prove that his

psychiatric condition has deteriorated.

The relevant government office of the country concerned has indicated that they need an assessment conducted by a properly registered

psychiatrist and next week they will send some guidelines in regard to what they are looking for in the assessment, and it must be written in English.

Can any CM member please share the name of any hospital and/or specific doctor who are aware of who might be appropriate for this matter. And some idea of cost if you have it. If more appropriate, or for confidentiality reasons, perhaps you might like to reply by PM.

As a respect to the gentleman concerned I'm not prepared to engage, publically, in further details of the case / his condition, and I'm not prepared to reveal the name of the country.

All relevant comments / suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks.

An appointment for a Psychiatrist at Sripat (head of dept) will cost about 500baht.

I would give a pass on Sriphat. You will not find what you are looking for there. Go to a western trained Psychiatrist and it will streamline the process and English language forms can be filled out to your satisfaction. Here is one you might try ---> http://ccfthailand.org/counselors-and-staff/professional-staff/william-hoppe/

I don't know him, but he came highly recommended by a respected member of the forum. Probably will set you back more than 500 THB.

You may wish to contact the consulate of the country of the man in question to see if they can recommend a doctor or hospital with the appropriate credentials that are more likely to be be acceptable to the agency of their government. Perhaps they would know doctors used by others from the same country for this purpose here in Chiang Mai.
