It's where California Wow used to be. When I googled it I learned that the owner was previously California Wow management, so I don't have much hope.

Anybody join and how much did you pay? Given the history, I don't expect it's possible to just stop by and ask the price.

Is the music as bad as all the other gyms in Thailand?

I liked the Fitness First at Paragon, quality Technogym equipment and at least finding out the price didn't involve a moronic negotiation, but I just couldn't bear the music.

I was happy paying 35,000 baht a year at the Hyatt Erawan just because they didn't play pop music, but in their wisdom they remodeled and decided not to include a Technogym stair machine, which is half the reason I go to a gym. I can't build up enough of a sweat on an elliptical machine.

Yes, that one. I'm going to answer my own question as I stopped by today......

They had a detailed price list which they didn't hesitate to show me immediately and politely when I asked. Prices were reasonable and there was no Cal Wow type weirdness derived from a sales script or a mandatory tour. Points for all that.

The music was horrible, but not as bad or as loud as Cal Wow, but it might have just been the moment I was there. LIke almost every other hideous gym in Thailand they feel the need to maintain the loud pop music atmosphere in the locker room. Why are people so damned scared of quiet?

Good brand name equipment and very clean and well remodeled. Verdict: Tolerable, I guess.

20,000 for a year paid in advance.

Just go to true fitness if you dont want blareing pop music. Most days lately until about 4-5pm there is no music at all on the first floor and only sometimes on the top floor. I havn't seen any gym that can compair to true thats easily accessible.

glbv,

I disagree, I've been a true fitness member for 1.5 years and my major complaint is the music is extremely loud! Of course, first floor is quiet, that's the reception area!

The music in True fitness in Central World is very bad. It's the kind of music that metaphorically kills souls amplified to a decibel volume that literally causes permanent hearing impairment.

ricklev,

You think Central World True Fitness music is bad, you should go to ExchangrTower True Fitness and try to workout, it feels like your in a disco! Also, they only have 3 working toilets so there's always several people waiting in line, how embarrassing!

Just dropped by, unliek every other gym I have been to here over the last 7 years, my one complaint was they won;t except monthly payments. Not even from Visa credit international, or visa debit locall bank. 20k for one year ..

Every other gym I have been to , true, fitness first, take any payment method monthly based happily - obvilousy they care about memberships.

Maybe there was some confusion. They do have monthly payment options. I see them on the rate sheet they gave me. Do they require a Thai credit card?

Sorry yes that is what I meant, they will only take a Thai credit card , everything else is not excepted other than full cash amount .

So, thai visa debit , cash monthly, credit card from international bank they don't like.

Completely retarded.

Probably some mid interpretation by the sales staff, how ever the manager also said this.

True fitness does great deals if you pay cash - for 17500 you can negotiate around 14 months - my friend just did this , perhaps we have to contact the same sale person - I can get the info for those interested.

This fitness is managed by an hiso batch from California fitness who pretends to do better than her ex boss...

I can understand that it is normal for her to be ridiculous but how can some investors be stupid enough to invest 500 MB on this business that will die and close within few years ?

These gyms chains have clothes everywhere in the world and even in Thailand but someone still think that she can be better ?

i think that I can be better than most when doing business but I would never bet even 1 million baht on a gym business anywhere in the world !

Yes it's funny because fitness first a successful gym with the right pricing strategies to stay alive - wouldn't take my thai cards lol, their staff are informed to take the international ones.

Why We gym would turn money away is beyond me.

Especially when you can easily implement a month in advance policy.

I know this thread has been quiet for a few months. Just want to get feedback on WE and Virgin Active as I am looking for a place to work out and try some new activities like climbing and group spinning.

I was to be a cali wow looser (life membership me and wife). So i was surprised when WE opened up in the same spot at ekkamai. I walked in and enquired about the price and got told to wait 5 minutes for the sales lady...aaahh nope. I just kept on walking.

Hi there,

Any update about the price charged by WE fitness?

I went last year and I was quoted around 8000THB for one month (access to all clubs).

For longer term contracts (6m, one year), If I remember it was higher than Virgin active somewhere above 4000THB per month which is is pretty expensive even based on western standards.
