Otherwise, thinking next service will be at 18k (so I was told when I bought it) - anyone know what's meant to be done then?

Every 2,500 km is good, oils breakdown, the more often its changed the better, if in doubt change it. then keep your services every 2,500 so its easy to remember, 2,500, 5000, 7500, 10000 etc

I would get A/F and plug changed at next service.Oil every 2,500/3,000 KM is good idea , and cheap.If you ride in dusty areas then A/F may need checking / blowing out every 6 months.Keep an eye on tire pressures.You dont have to take it to Honda , any garage can do this , unless you think Honda will get funny about warranty .They shouldnt , as the law states as long as its done on time using suitable quality parts / oil then ANYONE can do it (including you).

Honda Dealer and service manual recommend 1k, 4k 8k and every 4k kms after
