Hi All,

Can anyone please advise where I can purchase a 10" screen online that will fit this?

I have tried all local outlets; the manufacturer (useless!) & even sent it on a 2 month oddesy to/from Bkk to no avail (face!)

I'm new to ebay & cannot decipher the technical jargon on any of the likely products there.

Any ideas?

This is a cheap tablet used by my son. The tablet is OK but he's 'spider-webbed' the screen.

Thank you:)

I am sorry to hear this,I know this pain to well.

The trick is - you buy your son cheap tablet, kids destroy tablets - no matter how expensive - glass is glass:very fragile.

New tablet will cost you same as new display.

7inch is better then 10inch - somehow stronger,it can take more abuse.

You may have good luck finding somebody with the same tablet, which is out of order as a result of battery failure;then you can switch display or the battery(this is more easy).

chock-dee!

Your will probably be better off buying a new one since the one you got costs around Bt8K. I expect a new screen and labor to install it would come to at least half of that price (or more)...plus you would have the wait time.

A new screen on a similar 8" tablet cost me B1500 at a FORTUNE TOWER shop. I believe it was in the second floor corridor area on the left side as you walk from center area towards tech area. You will see a lot of screens in their display case. They may or may not have yours. My tablet was never as good after the replacement. Touch screen was less responsive and had some dead spots.

There is also a G-Pad dealer nearby.

Honestly, I would not do it again, not worth the money and time. You can buy new for nearly the same money.

Thanks all, If any 'techies' see a compatible screen on ebay or elsewhere please post details here or tell me the correct description is so that I can try to find one.

Thanks Jesse. There's a screen on there that might be ok but I can't tell what size it is. Is "digitizer" the term for a touchscreen?

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/LCD-touch-digitizer-for-Eaget-Gpad-i7-MID-Tablet-PC-capacitive-screen/593384286.html

Digitizer is the touch screen. Those touch screens come in 2 parts, the actual display panel and the digitizer which is attached to the panel.

From the I7 description I assume it is a 7 inch.

So what is your problem ? Is the panel cracked or doesn't light up anymore or is it the touch screen that doesn't respond anymore ?

I should have mentioned in my previous post, if the membrane under the glass itself is damaged, that presents a whole new array of problems. I have actually had 2 tablets with broken glass. A 7" cheapo from Pantip and the 8" one I mentioned in my previous post.

I forget what the membrane is called but in the 7" tablet, it was damaged and it was clear the cost of replacing both that and the glass was more than the new ones were selling for so I just got rid of it.

I just want to repeat...The tablet I did repair was never the same and very frustrating to use after the repair was done. There were several dead spots on the display and other spots where the response was really poor and you had to tap repeatedly to get anything to operate.

I ended up giving it away...too unreliable.

I suggest you save yourself a lot of grief and fruitless expense and toss it.

The 10 inch screen on my son's device remains intact but spider-webbed (shattered, albeit very finely) but otherwise seems to work.

What the repair shop told me with the 7" tablet was that is was extremely difficult to remove shattered glass without damaging the underlying membrane. When turned on, there were psychedelic like patches is some areas of the screen indicating membrane damage.

The 8" Tablet had a single vertical crack (poorly packed in a backpack) and no screen disturbance.

You will have to find a glass cut specifically for your G-Pad as the bevels fit very tightly. Most of the G-Pads I've seen are proportionately different from other tablets. My experience tells me that you will have to spend a minimum of 1/2 the original value of the tablet to fix it and as I mentioned before, do not be surprised if once it's fixed, it's problematic.

If you decide just to buy a new tablet for your son, many of the less expensive "Name" brands such as ACER, ASUS and LENOVO have "Gorilla" glass which really takes an effort to break and is much more appropriate for a kid.
