Help with transporting a full size bike out of the country...

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

After 4.5yrs here I am returning to America for awhile. I want to get a full size bike but getting a loan for one in the States is quite difficult. Here my wife and I can get one very easy with a moderate down payment and low monthly installments! So I'm looking at the Suzuki SVF650 or the Honda CBR650F to take back to North Carolina.

Does anyone have any experience relocating a motorcycle with any transport companies here? And most importantly....what costs would I be looking at? I'm sure it won't be cheap, but I want to weigh the option vs. having to come out of pocket for the full cost of the bike if I buy one back home. If it helps, the bike weighs approx. 210kg's (448lbs)

Any recommendations or advice would be appreciated.

BK

You do know your breaking the law taking a mocycl out of the country that is owned by a finance company? And any decent shipper won't touch it unless you have the green book.

Honda cbr650f is booked until august all i know.

Also import taxes, shipping etc. It might cost a lot.

No...I didn't know that! You must work for a bank or be a lawyer huh? I guess I'll have to look at other options.

Shipped my HD from Vancouver to Australia in a SeaCan. $500.00 and change one way.

I am moving back to the US, and leaving my 650r here (selling) Why? Because the price of a new 650r is less than what I paid (used) plus the shipping costs, and a hell of a lot cheaper than new + shipping

Hell, a 2014 Ninja 650r + shipping is about the cost of a leftover Ducati Monster 1100 evo!

Call up big retailers in your area and ask about financing before you try this.

Jesus Christ I can't believe anyone would even come up with such an idea, crazy or plain stupid I just don't know

Lol..I didn't even realize that is what he wanted to do after the first read, my mind wouldn't accept it I guess. I assumed he meant after paying it off early.

[deleted my own comment, was not motorcycle related]

Yeah just about as crazy or stupid as your comment without asking questions or knowing all the facts. I must be plain 'ole retarded!

Thanks for your useful wisdom and insight.

I know right? I am looking at Street Triple R's, Monster Evo 1100's and a bunch of other bikes. Personally I don't feel skilled enough to get on any supersport bike, and I plan on doing long distance (multi day, many thousands of KMs) trips, so they won't work so well.

From famine to feast!

OP, if your credit is screwed for whatever reason, 3k, or 100,000B (a decent down payment) will still get you a good bike in the US, hell SV650's are cheap and so are DL650's
