Thai sim card in Vientiane

Featured Replies

I'm going to Laos (Vientiane) for a couple of days. Will I be able to use either DTAC or AIS sim cards there?

Yes, you will, but be careful, you will be charged an arm and a leg for any incoming or outgoing calls.

yes in Vientiane without roaming,

but u go about 1 km from the river it will switch to a laos network and roaming charges set in. So keep an eye on ur screen.

Where i stay near the river, my ais sim works fine for calls and internet

As others have suggested the secret is to only use the phone near the waterfront. I switch mine off when I leave that area.

These days I use my I-pad more than my phone and it saves me a fortune.

Go and have a drink at the Bo Pen Yang (Laos version of Mai Pen Rai) bar. Climb to the 3rd (or 4th?) floor roof top bar and get great reception on your Thai sim card.

As said, crazy exzpensive. Just for an emergency.

good food as well

it is NOT expensive,

just make sure roaming is turned off than ur paying ais/dtac local rates ONLY
