Cronut craze from America does not translate in Pattaya!

Perhaps some of you are familiar with the U.S. cronut craze:

It's not only this famous bakery but now being CLONED by chains nationally.

The thing about cronuts, or so I'm told, is that they MUST be eaten within a few hours of baking, or they are no good.

Have you seen the marketing for cronuts at the ice cream shop in the front of Tops at 2nd road and Pattaya Klang?

They have big signs saying something like: "Hot Item From America -- CRONUTS"

The other day in the evening I saw a basic table with a big pile of cronuts just sitting there out in the open.

Chances are they weren't baked within the last few hours (or even DAYS?coffee1.gif )

They were just sitting there.

People were totally ignoring them.

Certainly not lining up to buy them.

Hilarious!

I have seen imported fads from the USA work in Thailand before (for a limited time of course).

But this one ain't working.

hes right :) ... they are yummy and made their way to tops in chiang mai !

in the middle theres a very sweet chewy paste thats almost like iceing and its good .... try one jt :)

Yeah, it's true, these babies are fried, not baked.

I was confused because croissants are baked.

Makes more sense now why they should be eaten quickly after the cooking.

The thing with Cronuts is the "craze" I think is mostly about that one famous pastry shop in New York from the cronuts creator. There they are fried in expensive grapeseed oil. No way is that happening here.

How this fad is supposed to translate to make this a "thing" in Thailand was probably a bad idea.
