Had a couple of customers from India today. Their visa card had no credit and they had no US$. I accepted India rupee ( first time ever ) as payment 7,000 rupee in total.

Just been to 3 different money changers and all said no to changing into Thai baht.

Whats the go here? Should I try the main bank branches etc?

Funny experience a few months ago, got into a Taxi at Swampy heading for Sukumvit and the

driver pulled the god damned no meter routine.

Dude turns around and screams "YOU GIVE ME 500 RUPEE !" What??

(I'm a Yank who has occasionally been mistaken for German and Russian, don't think I look at all Indian. 500 rupee would have been a good deal

if it included highway toll and tip!)

Finally managed to change the 7 1,000 rupee notes I had. Siam Commercial Bank would not change them so i went to Bangkok Bank. They pulled out a folder with different rupee notes on it..after a couple minutes they changed it into baht..lesson learnt.

It is illegal to take India Rupees out of India......Indians are supposed to change to another currency before exiting India.....the bank did you a favor.........
