Kaiho87 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I'm looking to get myself a kneeling chair since they're so much better for posture than normal chairs, but I can't seem to find a place in Chiang Mai, or even the whole of Thailand that has them. Has anyone ever seen them here, or does anyone know of a place where I could order one? Any directions much appreciated!!
beau thai Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I see them in the clubhouse in mae jo golf - they have a small section by the restaurant where thety give shoulder massage and the client is in the kneeling chair. Maybe try calling them or if you like I can ask where they got them next time I play? Or look at Matt Elmore on facebook - he seems to be in Chiang mai promoting ergo kneeling chairs. 1
Kaiho87 Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Thanks for the tips! I'll ask this Matt guy, and if he doesn't know I might call this golf place!
CobraSnakeNecktie Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Lot of plans online to build your own. Many people/businesses in CM work with wood if one wanted it built. This one is cheap to make. http://frozentime.se/diy/balance_chair.html 2
FolkGuitar Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I learned the hard way that it's just as easy to sit with bad posture on a kneeling chair as in a regular chair. They both take doing the work.

My own experience showed that it was just as easy to sit with bad posture on a kneeling chair as in a regular one. It didn't say that kneeling chairs don't work. It said that PEOPLE have to DO the work. The chairs don't do it for you. If you've had a good experience with them, it's obvious that you did the work. I'm happy for you.
Mapguy Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 If we are talking about a chair like this one, I would love to get one!

This one is cheap to make. http://frozentime.se/diy/balance_chair.html This may be the best solution in fact! Do you have any idea about a place where I can ask them if they could make this for me, if I provide them the instructions?
CobraSnakeNecktie Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 You could talk to vendors at the night bazaar as they know a lot of fabricators around CM. Just walk around with your plans. There is a little shop that makes wood picture frames behind and near Maya shopping center. I had them make me a wobble/balance board a while back. All they would need is a saw, drill and some free time. You could go with chair parts for the pads or visit one of the many upholstery shops that redo motorbike seats etc to make the pads. It's probably a good little business to start. Not many patent issues and chairs could be sold in health food stores etc for a reasonable price as well as create a few jobs.
beau thai Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Kaiho87, surely buying one would be easier and maybe cheaper? Not sure if you unsuccessfully tried Matt Elmore who I mentioned above? I dont know him but saw his facebook site. But if you do want to explore getting one made there is a good little upholstery place just off Mahidol. Going from Airport Plaza, take the last left turn before you get to Ping River. That gets you down to a T junction after 150 metres where you take a right (under mahidol) and carry on 1-2km alongside the river until you spot the upholstery place on your right. Pretty certain he dosent speak any english. But I think he is flexible and does good work and may take in on for you if you can show him pictures of what you want..
