What size of dish would be needed to get astro in BKK I was thinking about a 1.2m dish but am unsure.

Thank you

I initially used an old 90 cm true dish to receive the KU astro signal. It was fine and I live just north of Kanchanaburi. I later used a 6 ft mesh dish which gave a marginally better signal.
Rain outages which are slightly worse than true will hopefully be improved by the 1.2 metre solid dish I'm having installed[...].

[in a later post]: Had the 1.2 m dish for just over a week now and it's quite an improvement. 2700 bht from 9sat in bkk.
Gives about a 10% better signal which translates to much less rain related interruptions.
Very happy so far.

So, 1.2m minimum.

The ASTRO package is delivered via 91°E — Measat 3 (Measat 3, Malaysia East Asia Sat 3) Ku-band Malaysia Beam

Meaning most of the signal is delivered only to Malaysia. A weaker sidelobe signal is available to surrounding areas but requires a larger reflector dish to concentrate the signal and reduce rainfade effect.

I also live in Kanchanaburi and used a 120cm solid dish with great reception. Less rain fade than TRUE too.

Only problem I had with ASTRO was finding someone to annually renew the card. The last supplier tried to do a runner with the advance payment.

Regards the signal, a few years ago I knew a guy who watched in Buriram. Think he had a 6ft dish.

There is a guy in Hat Yai, that will do your annual Astro card renewal, with no problem... PM me if you want his number. He sorted out another member with same problem.

(if you have a Legit card) ....
