Educational Scholarships in Hua Hin From Thai and Korean Golfers

Scholarships-from-Thai-Korean-Golfers-2-

Hua Hin:-- A Thai and two Korean golfers have granted scholarships to students in Hua Hin as well as financial support for bachelor degree courses in Thailand and overseas.

Mr. Dusit Charoen commented that after working in the US for several years, he returned to live in his hometown of Cha-Am where he and met two Korean golfers Mr. Sueng Lee Park and Mrs. Enya Wang. They expressed a desire to help students at seven municipal schools in Hua Hin who have excellent academic performance but have limited financial resources. In appreciation of this gesture, Mr. Dusit added his own money to establish a fund for eleven scholarships valued at 66,000 Baht.

This is the second year that the scholarships have been granted to Hua Hin students. The three donors are also supporting students who would like to pursue bachelor degree courses.

Mr. Dusit said to Hua Hin Today that he was born in a poor family in Ratchaburi. When he was young he had very little money for lunch at school and almost no money for tuition fees and school uniforms. However he did not give up and kept studying until he completed a university degree. Because of his childhood, he is now determined to help those in need and repay Thai society.

Mr. Dusit and the two Koreans have been awarding scholarships since 2000. Initially scholarships were granted to 250 students in Seoul, South Korea and then the project was extended to those studying in Tha Yang, Cha-Am and Hua Hin. Scholarship students are screened and selected by teachers from seven municipal schools.

Mr. Dusit added that financial support is crucial for the educational advancement of Thai students. “If students do not have any money to continue their study, this will result in not only a lack of educational advancement but also human resources with low quality in the future. Scholarships support Thai students who lack financial means but still have a strong will to improve their life” he said.

The scholarships are not limited to students in Hua Hin but extended other students in Phetchaburi and Prachuab Khirikhan.

Students who would like to apply for a scholarship can contact Mr. Dusit Charoen for more information directly at Springfield Condo Room No. 2103, Cha-Am, Phetchaburi 76120.
