Hi there,

a. is it allowed for a Managing Director (Farang) of a Thai Company Limited to make an agreement between the Thai company he works for with a Resort to be a representative of the management of the Resort?

b. Does the Work Permit be adapted for that?

I am looking for your answers.

My apologies for the delay, we were closed for Songran

I am assuming you have a work permit as the Managing Director of you own company (it is required). As such you will need a second work permit for the new employer and a letter of permission from the original employing company for this second work permit.

You will need to take into account any conflict of interest that could arise between your original employer (your company) and the second company that employs you.

      Father-in-Law Ejected & Killed as Pickup Hits Pole

A crash occurred on the afternoon of 12 August, when a pickup truck driver, lost control in heavy rain, collided with a utility pole, and flipped onto its roof, resulting in the death of the driver’s father-in-law who was ejected from the vehicle. At approximately 16:30, rescue volunteers from Phanom station in Thung Phraya were alerted to a vehicle rollover on the highway near Ban Khlong Kamjang, heading towards Ban Nao in Tha Kradan subdistrict, Sanam Chai Khet District, Chachoengsao. At the scene, rescuers found a white pickup truck with license plate from Chonburi overturned. The body of Mr Min Klao Phimai, 63, was found outside the vehicle, having been thrown clear in the crash. The driver, 31-year-old Mr Wichai Laotham, who is the son-in-law of the deceased, said he was driving from Chonburi to deliver his father-in-law to his home in Ban Nao, about five kilometres away. Heavy rain at the Ban Khlong Toei intersection caused the vehicle to lose traction, collide with a high-voltage pole which broke and subsequently roll off the road. Mr Wichai’s wife and their nine-month-old child were unharmed in the crash. Police are investigating the incident and arranged for the deceased to be transferred to Sanam Chai Khet Hospital as legal procedures continue. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-08-14

      Man Stabs Ex Wife to Death in Alleged Act of Self-Defence

A 64-year-old man has been arrested after stabbing his former wife, a village spirit medium, to death in what he claims was self-defence after she attacked him with a machete. Police from Muang Nakhon Si Thammarat station were called to a single-storey concrete home in Pak Phun sub-district at around 06:30 on 12 August. Outside the house, officers found the suspect, named as Duang, sitting and waiting to surrender, bleeding from wounds to his left ear, arm and fingers. Inside, in the rear hall of the house, lay the body of his ex-wife, Tim 58, on her back in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds to her abdomen and torso. A bloodstained machete was found beside her body and a separate bloodied kitchen knife was recovered near a bed. Neighbours described Tim as a long-time medium for a revered goddess, with a shrine and offerings set up at the front of the home where villagers regularly came to seek blessings. According to Duang’s statement, he and Tim had recently divorced but continued living in the same house. Their relationship had been strained for years, with frequent arguments. On the evening of 11 August, he told her to leave the house after another quarrel, locking the doors. At around 06:00 the next morning, Tim allegedly forced open a window and woke him by tapping his leg with the handle of a machete, demanding he open the door. After doing so, he returned to bed, which angered her. Duang claims she then struck him several times with the machete, prompting him to grab a knife from beside him and stab her repeatedly in self-defence during a struggle. She collapsed from severe blood loss and died at the scene. Duang said he immediately phoned his son, rescue workers and police and waited to surrender.
