My wife is very interested. We're moving to Prachuab end of this month. Her English is excellent, she was the manager/supervisor/chief slave at a very successful campus coffee & snack shop (owned by a Chinese family) for a few years, and she grew up working in her family's noodle shop in Lampang. She also has a gift that ensures a steady stream of regular customers: people love her, love to talk to her, and keep coming back to do so, and (happily) buy the shop's goods almost to excess while they're there. (She should have been a therapist ... or a bartender!)

Hello John,

Please, please try to operate slightly outside of the box, by offering western style baked goods, such as carrot cake (ridiculously easy to make), brownies, pear danish, cinnamon rolls, apple pie, oatmeal raisin cookies, etc. You will be rewarded with an extra several hundred thousand baht per year for your efforts. I cannot even begin to express the level of frustration with all of the bakeries that open and offer absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. Also, you might consider pots of fine Chinese tea, which you can order inexpensively in bulk, online. It would be a real hit.

Hi Mike, My previous business in Ubon was just that. Outside the box. Our carrot cake was one of our biggest sellers, had reviews on Tripadvisor regarding the carrot cake and brownies, very good apple pie and a large range of cookies. Didnt tackel cinnamon rolls or the pear danish but hey..why not. We only use fresh butter from Australia and real cream not the long life stuff. Your advice on the tea has been noted...thank you. Great. You can order good bin lou cho, wu lzaig mountain or pearl jasmine for $20-30 per kilo, which makes hundreds of pots of tea. All are great chinese highland green teas. Avoid the Thai teas, as they are inferior, the Chinese teas are reasonable, and there are no issues with import duties, ever. If you charged 60 or 70 baht per pot, the profit is good, and you are offering a service few in Thailand have ever even thought about. Tea drinkers are rarely ever catered to in Thailand and the lipton yellow label leaves us feeling violated! Sounds like you are onto something. I am looking to re-locate to PKK area soon. Please keep me informed of your location. I will support you in your endeavor. It sounds like you have alot pride in what you are doing, which is what I look for. Keep it up, and good fortune to you.

I discovered the place this year when I escaped the smog in Chiang Mai. I plan to come down next year and stay at the hotel on the beach inside the airforce base. It seems to be heaven on earth--quiet, clean, wonderful!!!!

I wish you lots of luck, and will certainly look for you next time I visit.

That hotel you refer to would have to have one of the best views ever. I was there yesterday, had lunch on the beach. Paradise it is. Thank you for your good wishes, were looking forward to opening day.

I took a trip just for a look see about 15 Kms to border and on the way after leaving Route 4 passed the Immigration Office that deals with Visa Renewals, 90 Day being mentioned, so very handy for local frangs.

To help out a neighbour............This morning, a suite on the waterfront opened up. We will put a "for rent" sign up in the next few days. 2 br / 2 bth, furnished, Wifi, parking. This is a sublet for a friend who is leaving until fall. Available May 1 until likely October or November of this year. 10,000 baht/month plus utilities.

I'm Mike, the Kraut from Ubonwittayakhom. Got that link through a post about your ex place in Ubon. Wish you best of luck and will promise you to visit you, as soon as possible.

Whenever you wanna see a nice place, go to Bankrut in Bangsapan area. ( There's also Bangsaphan Noi!) Sometimes also spelled Bankrud.

A very nice little fishermen village,excellent to relax, I'd guess about 60 km away from Prachuap city.

Please see, I've met them the first time 12 years ago and they seem to have the best place in town. There're so many amazing things to see, waterfalls caves, etc..they'll tell you where.

They know where to got to, got decent food, a very nice family.You might have the chance to promote your new place through them and vice versa.

Haha, that is true - I did manage a free coffee on the last day but all other meals were paid for in full I assure you! actually I just wrote up a review on Trip Advisor - will cut and past it below. Twiggs really is massive positive for PKK.

My shout next time for sure Mister T - but only because I hear on the grapevine that you might be opening up a bar in PKK. A coffee from me = a beer in return from you = bloody good return on my behalf!!

This place is the bomb!

It has only been open for a month but already it has won the hearts and bellies of locals and tourists alike. I am not really sure where to begin to be honest because it really is that good.

First impression are always important and what you notice is a place that is super clean, spacious, well designed and with a friendly atmosphere. Even the toilet is spotless.

The free wifi is fast. The owner (Australian) and his wife (Thai) are delightful hosts.

The coffee is just like I would get in my favourite coffee shop back home plus they do a wide range of other drinks as well such as juices, frappes, beer, wine and spirits etc.

But what about the food? Well let me tell you, in the two days I was visiting Prachuap I managed to sample the following: (Yes I'm a fat bugger!)

Eggs Benedict: Eggs cooked to perfection, Sauce with just the right twang, hash brown was perfect. The English muffins were a little hard to cut though.

Chips (French Fries) Nice and thick like they should be. Nice clean oil but just a smidgeon under cooked.

Mince Pie, chips and Gravy. I'm an Aussie and I know and love my pies. This was perfection and big! The pastry was spot on and the filling delicious. Chips and Gravy just finished it perfectly.

Deep fried pork strips. delicious and tender. A little on the small side.

Massaman Curry. I stuffed up this order by asking for the wrong type of Curry.I normally don't like Massaman curry but this one was done very well and was generous with the servings.

Omelette. Served with two thick pieces of toast. 3 egg omelette cooked and presented to perfection (I forgot to take a photo of this one sorry!)

So many other things that I wanted to try but did not have time. Things such as the steak and hamburgers looked amazing when they were delivered to other peoples tables. The Thai food must also be good considering the amount of local Thai customers ordering it.

It is easy to find and so close to most of the hotels. Parking is a breeze with a fabulous temple opposite the restaurant. A small outside area is available also. The Bangkok Post arrives early for your purusual .

Open from 8 - 9pm, 7 days a week. If you find yourself in this most beautiful part of Thailand then make sure you pop in and visit Twiggs - the place that has certainly raised the bar in Prachuap Khiri Khan!
