Zarqawi Dead

Featured Replies

:oComputer.gif Same old tired comments. Carry on.

Fellows, perhaps we should be more sensitive about Mr. Zarqawi.

After all, he was probably poor and had a difficult childhood. :D

Long time since we went round, UG. :D

Let's see . . . to make this world a better place all we have to do is kill all the people we don't like. Hmmm . . . why that's brilliantly simpleExclamation.gif I don't see any problem with that at all. Should work just fine. Let me think about that . . .

You should have seen what I wrote before I realized that it was your post and toned it down a LOT! :D

Long time, too, since anyone called me Tripe-a-porn. :D:D Almost miss those days . . . :o Awww, go on, UG, just let it all hang out. :D

But seriously, I don't see much else than the usual "hang 'em high," and "let 'em burn in hel.l" exhortations. I may as well revisit the Gary Glitter thread. There's a lot of good and smart people on TV. I'd expect a little more than this.

But seriously, I don't see much else than the usual "hang 'em high," and "let 'em burn in hel.l"

Seriously though, what else can we do over the death of someone so vile? He was one of those who exalted others to murder people by telling them that some glorious reward awaited them, yet he spent most of his time hiding. Maybe he was just generous and didn't want to hog all the martyrdom himself, and that's why he got others to do the work for him.

The comments regarding wrapping him in pigskin are a reaction to the propaganda spread by zarkawi and others that those who die murdering "with god's name on their lips" will be rewarded in heaven. Most of the same people believe that they would never get to heaven wrapped in pig skin. Maybe it's time to start doing this with the remains of terrorists. Might at least make the ferverent religious ones think twice about their afterlife and maybe dying of old age or in a sheep herding accident is preferable to blowing themselves up outside a voting booth.

Anyone who takes a hostage and then beheads them is - well I can't understand it.

I was a <deleted> once and actually downloaded the videos - plus the stoning things in Iran.

I cant believe I've seen it.

Horrible. Disgusting.

I have no gripe against anyone in the world, but that took the buscuit. No quarter for those people. They don't deserve it.

And I don't mean the normal population.

What would you expect? Anger and sorrow? :o

I wouldn't dispute for a minute the vileness of Zarqawi's deeds, Vic. And I can't blame people, considering their beliefs, for feeling gratification over his death. Zarqawi was driven by hatred. Hatred is so obviously destructive. And yet hatred is shared by all involved. My point is that by continuing to fuel hatred we will never see an end to it. Hatred perpetuates hatred. Without any true attempt at understanding the human elements which play into the creation of these types of events we can only guarantee that we, our children, and their children's children will see the blackest history repeated ad infinitum.

While I don't at all condone the acts of a Zarqawi neither can I take pleasure and joy in another sad ending of a human life, however twisted and destructive it had been. The death of Zarqawi is no cause for celebration because the hatred he felt is still with us. The messenger has met his end, is all.

I see here on this thread and others like it only gleeful, hate inspired revelry over another's justified death, and little discussion towards any kind of comprehension regarding the nature of who we are so that we may make genuine and lasting strides, as individuals and as a race, in manifesting a world that reflects our best and most cherished human aspects.

Lighten up Tipp. This was a murdering scumbag SOB and i have no doubt in my mind, that many innocent lives have been saved by illiminating him. As far as i'm concerned, it's one more Al-Qaeda down but many more to come.

I feel pleasure in recovering from the flu. What is happening is the death of many viruses. Viruses seed sickness and death, not because of hatred, but because they're viruses, and that's what viruses do. Zarkawi on the other hand, had a choice, and he chose to cause the deaths of others, including many innocents. If I can feel joy at the death of something that causes death by nature's design, is it not within reason to feel it upon the elimination of one who chose to cause death?

Yes, root causes of terrorism need to be dealt with, but you can't heal a wound without cleaning the infection first. People like zarkawi are the infection.

My revelry over his death isn't hateful, or gleeful, it's actually quite clinical.

Any photos of the dead <removed>? Another will take his place, but JA will RIP now.

Showed him on Tele - I was hoping the bastard would have a look of horror on his face. :o

He looked fat and stupid - just like when he was alive! :o

:o I appreciate the comment, jangles. To be honest, I don't feel any heaviness over this issue in the least. Just throwing some food for thought out here to spark some other perspectives than the ususal and predictable ones. :D

Nice analogy, Vic, but IMHO not applicable since with illnesss there isn't any hatred directed at the viruses. Is the joy you feel at the return to health over the actual death of viruses or is it simply joy over feeling vital and alive again? And since you brought it up, Vic, it's a known fact that viruses exist within our bodies at all times, even deadly ones, yet they lie dormant, waiting to be triggered by . . . ? I don't wish to go off on a tangent here, although the fact can be tied in with the current topic analogously in a proper way.

I would say, and I believe accurately so, that the joyful feelings expressed over Zarqawi's death are based in hatred that is little different than the hatred felt by Zarqawi and his like. I heartily agree with you, Vic, that the root cause of terrorism needs to be dealt with and this is the true impetus behind my responses in this thread. For I feel that not only has the root cause not been identified but quite unfortunately rather mistakenly so.

I'll aver again that hatred is the root cause. And yet this is not truly accurate, either. Emotions merely reflect, or follow, or are the by-product of thought. Think a happy thought and you feel happy. Change to a spiteful thought and your feelings will instantaneously alter to match. Thus it would be accurate to assign the root cause to ideas. Yet the ideas are not us; the ideas are not who we are but only the tools we employ for the creation of our own experience. Hence, to kill a Zarqawi while leaving intact the ideas that inspired and propelled his hate is futile. The weed has been trimmed, flush with the ground as to appear to the eye that it no longer exists, yet the roots are enough to bring the weed back to life in all of it's former glory. To kill a Zarqawi and believe that through attrition we have eliminated an unwanted element of our existence is an illusion of our mental eyes.

One other aspect I'd like to emphasize here is the hatred of those who, quite justifiably, decry the acts of a Zarqawi. Hate is hate, my friends, and whether it feels righteous or not it will bring those that frolic with it misery in one or more of it's multitudinous forms. It is, IMHumbleO, erroneous to believe that anyone can play with it and escape it effects entirely.

My apologies for an overbearing post that rains on this parade. :D But I would encourage folks to think more deeply and be less reactionary to the prevalent sympathies that accompany these issues. I am appreciative of your genuine and intelligent discussion, Vic. :D

A little late to the party on this thread but let me throw in my two satangs worth: Hip Hip Hooray! One less Rat-Ba*tard gone - bin Laden next! :o

I like your emotocon!

Actually, that rat-basta*d deserved to get a 500lb bomb dropped on his ass.

The Guillitene(sp) would have been too good for him.

He wouldn't even feel that. It'd be over too quickly.

The hatred of the world is the fruit of the Karma that Zarqawi created with the way he lived his life.

What goes around comes around. :o

Great post Ulysses G.

Bet Tippy felt no sadness with the death of Pol Pot, Mao, Stalin etc either... :o

Zarqawi didn't invent hatred and neither is the average man free of it himself. What goes around comes around holds true for each of us. And it works the same whether it's hatred or love or anything else. Feel free to put forth what you will, but be cognizant of the fact that it will come back to you.

No sadness and no joy with the above lot, Boonie. :D

Is Tippaporn the only sane or compassionate poster in Bedlam?

Did your mother, father, priest or shaman not teach you any decency?

Tip is right; it's HATRED that many of you eat for three meals a day.

God bless the terrorists, and God bless the terrorists who kill the terrorists because they kill the terrorists who....

Love your enemies, so that you BE the children of God.

Sermon's over. Sounds like you guys are singing along with Peter Paul and Mary, in a perverse way, at the end of "The Great Mandella" - "He is dead now; we can kill now. And it's been this way for a thousand years."

P.S. Can you explain what makes your hatred any better than the terrorists' hatred?

PeaceBlondie, I believe your words, and mine, are falling on deaf ears. Righteous hatred is acceptable, and has been spoonfed to countless generations. No one thinks to question it. It's effects are not immediate enough to make it plain. Mai pen rai. :o
