NAKHON PATHOM — A gunman has confessed to ambushing and attempting to murder his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend out of jealousy.

Police at Kampaengsaen Police Station were alerted about the incident on 24 April.

Chatchai Thepsaeng, 21, who was injured in the incident, told police that he was asked by a man named Phakphum Neunim, 23, to meet him and discuss issues surrounding his current girlfriend, who had previously dated Mr. Phakphum .

Mr. Chatchai said he agreed to the meeting and invited his friends, Thanapol Niyaphon, 24, and Saksith Sakultancharoenchai, 20, to accompany him. When Mr. Chatchai arrived at the arranged meeting spot, Mr. Phakphum was reportedly waiting in a car with a driver and immediately opened fire at the group, mortally wounding Mr. Thanapol and Mr. Saksith. Mr. Chatchai was shot in his leg but he managed to escape the scene.

Both Mr. Thanapol and Mr. Saksith were shot in their ribs and arms, medical workers said.

The police later arrested Mr. Phakphum and the driver, Thossapol Mali, 21, in connection with the crime. The police also confiscated the rifle believed to be used by Mr. Phakphum in the shooting.

Mr. Phakphum confessed that he arranged the ambush and shot at Mr. Chatchai's group out because of jealousy regarding his ex-girlfriend.

No, this is Thailands version of cowardice behaviour.

Instead of facing your opponent, as a man, for any reason, you just shoot him.

You would have to feel sorry for Thai men and there limited thinking, But thank god it was one of them then us.

will be interesting to see what sort of jail time he gets if any, surely shooting someone in a jealous rage has o be high in the leniency stakes here. Maybe if their parents actually taught them that they cant have everything thy want and to respect others we might see less of this sh*t, face is an evil Thailand could do without.

I'm sure Mr Pakphum will find new love in Bang Kwang. Maybe not as tender as his last fling.

Isn't it ironic that the target escaped with wounds, yet his two friends accompanying him for, I presume safety in numbers, are killedsad.png

Time to start classifying these losers as mentally ill and lock them up indefinetly. Maybe the stigma of being so classed might make them think twice.

Guns and idiots, a bad combo and another reason normal folks should be allowed to pack.

If they're mentally ill I doubt that they would care or even know.

Reading your post and acknowledging the Asian reverse phonetics of the 'R' and the 'L', and the mention of Bang Kwang, made the song title come to mind...... Rub me Tender.......... sorry Elvis

Not ironic at all. The safety-in-numbers concept worked almost perfectly!

I have never understood this side of the Thai lifestyle. I guess it ties into the losing face thing...which is such a bad thing for the society. Why blame someone else for the choices the GIRL made? When I first arrived some years ago now, it blew me away how immature the Thais arnd when it comes to relationships and the whole jealousy thing. I am a perfect example, in fact. I dated a girl (not bar girl or anything like that) and found out she was already married, she also had 2 Thai boyfriends and 1 Thai girlfriend. When I found out I left her. Soon thereafter, my wonderful and beautiful fiance came into my life and she was so jealous she called the police and told them I was harrassing her to try to get me kicked out of Thailand or worse and sent me a message with these sentiments. She also told me that she hit her ex BF with her car when he left her for the same reasons (she didn't go to jail because her father is a prominent business man and her uncle is a politician). I just cannot believe the lack of self respect, maturity, and crazy selfishness I see here sometimes and this is just another example. My God, there are plenty of fish in the sea so move on.

You can't make this stuff up...Thai soaps appear to be more real life than I previously thought...

Guess the girlfriend involved must be really impressed !

boys will be boys

show's the lack of availible women in central thailand

Perhaps it related to the side of the vehicle people were in and on when they exited the car, versus where the other vehicle sat? We can't know from the article.

This post is rather racist, isn't it?

Hard to follow your train of thought--put them behind bars to think because they are mentally ill.

Jealousy the worst emotion. sad.png

Yap...you are right. I do not speak Thai and I asked my wife many times about the dramas shows in the soaps she like to watch. Always is about people cheating or complicated relationships, and always rage and violence is involved in same ways..... and....by her reaction, looks like is the Thai way of life about marriage and relationships...
