Popular Post Publicus
The government has set its mind on decapitating the insurrectionist and seditious PDRC before the judicial coup occurs. This isn't the usual and ordinary blah blah blah from Thai big shots. This is to preclude the PDRC being on the streets when the coup is declared.. The army's not cooperating so it should expect to get squeezed. Either the army cooperates with CAPO or it risks ceding authority and positioning to the police. This is the dream scenario of the no compromise crowd around here. What naivete. If the Army doesn't cooperate with this government, what can the government do? They've shown themselves toothless without military support. How long have they sought arrest of PRDC members with nothing coming to fruition? The police can't do anything without military support and if they try, they know they'll just face another losing battle like the last time they tried going in. Face it, the police are only good at collection bribes and enriching themselves. This is real work and they're not going to risk their lives doing it. The government has weathered a succession of storms and the government intends to find its way clear of the coming judicial coup. And what can the army do, stage a coup ? The army is toothless because the people oppose any further interposition by the army in the country's domestic affairs. No more Thais in army uniforms shooting Thais or the army will be really cooked among the general population, and the army knows it.. The army scares no one any more. What's the army going to do, shoot the police ? Take away their badges The 2010 clashes both caught the army off guard in the responses against it which blew the army away. That's why the army shot civilians in the temple and that itself turned the stomach of the Thai people. Judges declining to issue arrest warrants further contribute to the awareness of the population. The judges in which ever building they sit need the acquiescence of the general population to conduct another coup and they know they don't have it. For better and for worse, the police are all that's left. You want to talk to someone naïve, go talk to Suthep. Naive and mad. You'd find you and he have a lot in common.
rickirs
CAPO has invited Suthep for a meeting at CAPO headquarters so that CAPO may "embrace" Suthep. Suthep will get a free lunch and a quiet place for a nap.
Thaddeus
He expressed hope that the Criminal Court would issue arrest warrants for the PDRC’s 80 core members, including protest leader Suthep Thuagsuban, to be requested by CAPO tentatively on May 10. CAPO: We are now definitely tentatively searching to seek arrest warrants, but we are not so sure if we will actively request them or just imply through the grapevine that there is a need, or not. Furthermore, we are not quite ready yet to proceed with any possible or probable request and so some deliberation may be in order, but then again may be not. Also, we seem to have misplaced the information on where to request such a request, if such a request becomes necessary at all in the first place. Lastly, we all need a raise! This is what we need. Rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty.

And yet the Army is there, doing whatever they hell please. Sure they probably won't stage a coup to overthrow this CARETAKER government but neither can the government do anything to them. As for the CAPO wanting to arrest the PRDC core members. It IS naivety if you think they'll be able to do anything. How long have they tried? The protestors just celebrated their six month since the start of the protest. I think that's a spit in the face of this ineffectual government. They're still around and this government can't seem to do anything against them except issue press statements of what they seek to do. The police is all that's left. In other words, NOTHING will be done against the protestors. You'll have Chalerm and the CAPO talk tough but nothing will be done against the protestors and they'll be there every day as usual, laughing at this ineffectual government. Spin it all you want, but a government who can't control the Army and has the judiciary against them can't really do much but talk big to the press. But I guess that's good enough if the red naifs believe them. Edited April 28, 2014 by TVGerry

WoopyDoo
I think you will find that everything over the past week has been staged to get the extension they want, and replace the army with red police terrorists. A totally desperate final attempt to kill of the people's movement in fine dictatorial repressive style. How about arming the ARMy???? Is that too much to ask???? The first army in the world who are not allowed weapons... only in a Thaksin government will you see such lunacy. In many ways I am hoping that there is actually eventually a coup. It would clear up all this mess overnight and see a lot of people thrown into a military prison, and that would be half the PTP government and Yingluck too. Oh I can only dream of that day. Basil B
"Commenting on Democrat party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva’s political initiative to mediate peace talks among all political stakeholders in order to break the political deadlock, Mr Surapong said he did not trust Abhisit and did not expect anything from the Democrat leader." Well my guess is Abhisit is negotiating some political deal, that may see YL doing a bolt and it could well be Abhisit appointed CTPM, a lot of the PTP senior members have a lot to fear. khunken
I'm sure the army will give stooge Surapong their usual response - get stuffed. As the police and Capo have done virtually nothing to find and arrest those who have attacked and killed protestors, it's the army who have actually done something positive. It's a sad state of affairs when the police are actually controlled by the likes of Chalerm & Surapong & Tarit. The lawless leading the lawless. city
Most neutral people would like to see an end to this. Reforms can only take place after an election not after the hand picking of Sutheps '400 good men committee'
