Surapong to scale down troop deployment in Bangkok and replaced with police

4-8-2014-2-03-37-PM2-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The Center for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) will propose the caretaker cabinet to scale down troop deployment in the capital from 10,000 to about 3,000-4,000 soldiers while more police will be deployed.

CAPO advisor Surapong Tovichakchaikul, also deputy prime minister and foreign affairs minister, said currently CAPO deployed a 20,000 strong police and soldiers to maintain peace and order in the capital after anti government protesters led by the People’s Democratic Reform Council (PDRC) shut down Bangkok.

The peace-keeping force is equally shared by the police and the military, he said.

But since the outbreak of violence and troops, particularly unarmed junior soldiers, were constantly harassed by armed groups, he decided to scale down troop deployment from the current 10,000-strong men to about 3,000 to 4,000 men with regard to their safety.

He said junior soldiers were not allowed to carry guns same as the police, adding that if armed harassment continues, it would only affect their morale.

He said more police would be deployed to replace them because the police are armed while making patrols.

Surapong obviously means:

PT needs more Shin clan controlled police that won't investigate any crimes against anti-government protestors.

  • Popular Post

Or you could just allow the soliders to be armed when on patrol

  • Popular Post

Smart move, he knows the police won't arrest any redshirt terrorist, while the Army is keen on getting them of the streets.

replacing the soldiers, by policeman would give the UDD and this rogue government more opportunities to create and tolerate violence against the anti-government supporters.

Or you could just allow the soliders to be armed when on patrol

That would be a bad idea, then the red skirts can not start any violence on the streets...

I want to slap this revolting face.

Clearly an evil move to bereave the protestors of any protection through the law and be able to allow or even order more unlwawful violence against them.

Making it easy for the reds and the grenade people (probably the same).

Then blame it on the protestors and block any action against attackers

Thaksin's cousin has tried this before, and it failed miserably. He tried to replace the army with Thaksin's police before, but the army did not relent. As a result, the protesters have enjoyed more protection that they had before. The grenade attacks still continue, but they are now contained to a degree they were not before. The army has set up grenade catching nets and employed other strategic initiatives. Surapong is aware of all that, of course. Once the army goes, it's a very dangerous climate for the protesters once again. But the army will not relent - as they didn't before - because they know exactly what Pheu Thai is up to. As does everyone else.

Well that's strange. All I've been hearing on here is that the rally sites are being attacked daily and that's why the poor stressed PDRC guards are jumpy and understandably beat up or shoot anybody nearby. Yet here you are saying the army is providing protection for the protesters that the police didn't?

What to believe?

Don't bother to reply, I know you want to, but try and resist coffee1.gif

But if the military cares what Surapong orders?

You antis are really obsessed with physiognomy. Why is that? Do certain facial features stir you to violence? Only seem to comment on the, what you perceive as, "the opposition" though, I'm intrigued. All this hatred, it's not good to keep it bottled up, perhaps you should see someone, a therapist perhaps?

Troops without weapons? Reminds me of an old army ballad. "This is my weapon and this between my legs is my gun. One is for killing and the other for having fun"cheesy.gif

Appears he's preparing to make a career move. Sees himself as destined for bigger things. He's been the "Peter Principle" personified for years.

Soldier bunker showed that attacks against PRDC fell...... Presence of soldier secure Bangkok from red illness attack...

Surapong knows that the presence of soldiers interfere with the dirty works of his reds friends ........

Has anyone noticed any news/media reports about junior soldiers being harassed by groups of armed men?

Is this just one more of the PTP "white lies" for the good of the people? Or is there some basis in fact? If so, who are the groups of armed men?

It's hard to imagine the protestors being at fault since the soldiers seem to have done substantial good in reducing attacks. So is it UDD/Red Shirt groups? Or just unknown groups? Or are the police harassing them since the police carry weapons?

Well, Just a new attempt from UDD-PTP to divide army.........whistling.gif

To push junior soldier to revolt against their hierarchy, since yesterday a mystery leaflet has been discovered in Army headquarter to report the same thing ....

I think there is a striking resemblance between him and Little Henry.

They have already tried to reduce the army presence, and Gen Prayuth refused it and in fact a few weeks later actually increased it.

This will equally be refused by the military and thank god for that, because the bloodshed would be abysmal. The police would instigate shootouts between themselves and the guards and the place will just go up like a tinderbox as reinforcements are pulled into the capital to help protect the rally sites.

Surapong in charge of CAPO which includes the words 'peace and order'.... the thought of it makes my sick to my stomach and I hope he is first on the hit list when all his power has been stripped.... a very dangerous man indeed.... VERY DANGEROUS!

Now we know why that soldier stupidly attempted to drive his car through the ChangWattana site the other day.. He was obviously paid for the confrontation to set the stage for this little development... something I suggested the other day on that particular thread and was shouted down by the little red trolls.

Thought that incident was fishy from start to end.... now we know why.

This is a bad sign. The military are on the streets to keep an eye on the police. Without the military, the attacks on the PDRC will escalate. Plus when YL et al gets the boot, the military will not be around to keep the police in check. The police, of course, will be assisting the UDD/RS.

Next month looks to be bad. Time to stock up on essentials.

"He said more police would be deployed to replace them because the police are armed while making patrols."

Of course he meant only the uniformed police are armed.

Remember when the Ko Tee faction of the UDD got caught lobbing M79 grenades at the NACC the day after Reds attacked a Army 'bunker' that was monitoring the NACC? The reason they were caught was because the Army was doing joint patrols with the RTP; keeping them honest. The UDD, CAPO, PTP, and Thaksin are all in cahoots to maintain their status at any cost. The Army presence is a hindrance to the violent faction of this criminal syndicate.

Correct. Yes, "the army is providing protection for the protesters that the police didn't"

Imagine the increased violence if the army were not providing protection.

And his post got 9 Likes, as of this posting.

With an uncountable number of others smiling and shaking their heads in a common distemper.

A clinical display indeed.

Another non-violent post from a Suthep lover !

Under current circumstances who but this clown believes that the RTP have either the ability or the interest to maintain law and order.

Simply fact is that CAPO can intimidate and manipulate the vagabond police force but this is not the case with the army.
