3-1 Mexico

Is it me passing has been horrendous thus far? I know they are opening matches, but still you'd think we see a bit more skill.

Good result, though I give Iran some credit - it was a heaps closer than the score indicated.

ALL matches so far have been so-so and all the comments, also from specialists, are focussing on the many, many 'slipperies' on the grass by many players.

Whether it is the shoes or the grass or 'underlayers' of the grass...nobody has given a clear answer so far....

Also, many players are complaining about the new balls which they are not used to play with.

It would have been better if the FIFA would have allowed to play with the new balls in an earlier stage.

But, the first matches during a WC are always strange, especially in those wheather conditions.

It's extremely hot in the stadiums and the players are wearing 'synthetic' shirts....horrible.

Than today the 4th referee wasn't allowing the players to drink (during a break :o ) which is stupid under these extreme conditions.

Well, let's wait and see what's next.

Top marks to Iran. You're right about the score not being an indication of how the game went. They played well and fairly. No rolling around like wounded Bambis, no back chatting the ref, getting up after going down. A good display of fair football. They may be lacking the skills of the UK, Holland etc but they played a solid game of football. Hats off to the boys from GW most hated country!
