Hospital For Giving Birth

Featured Replies

My girlfriend is due in around 2.5 months time. I told her I could whip it out myself at home, no problem - but she's insisted we go to a hospital for birth.

Some people have told me to go to Nathon, others said Bangkok Hospital are great.

Any suggestions?

From what has been posted here before, just go Nathon hospital.... if there are complications, that is where even the BKK hospital send people...

I know several people (farangs) who say they have been impressed with the service at Nathon.... I will be seeing one couple tomorrow, will try to get the Doctors name.... they were quite impressed with her... Pre-birth and after birth care.... too... thumbsup.gif

I think the office for this lady is just as you enter the hospital parking area...via the Samui Immigration road, I will check on that too! wink.png

Thanks Jimmy. We're currently using the young thai lady in the clinic at the entrance to Nathon hospital for scans/etc. I've been told to book a private room at the hospital for the due date - as being on the ward isn't too great.

There you go, you are ahead of the game! Good luck with it all !

Seems to me, there is a set rate for all of this, if memory serves... I think 40,000 baht ? ....but don't hold me to that tongue.pngwink.png

We used her to, for some bonus money she made the delivery and fixed private room.

Great service.

PS, get married before the birth.

5000 baht bonus so she performed the c-section + 1600 baht per night for private room.

40.000 is the starting fee at Bandit hospital, do not include room, food, c-section, medications or complications.

If you're referring to legalities re Passports all that is currently required is that the personal details of the parent from whom citizenship is being claimed ensures that their own details (as per passport) are entered accurately onto the childs birth certificate. Any mistakes <on Thai Birth Cert> must be corrected at the point of issue if probs are to be avoided later.

Hi,

I am french and married in vegas (I and my wife are french)

In the process to register it to french authorities (but it will take maybe 1 year)

In the meanwhile, before my wife delivers, should we marry here in samui? Is there a quick procedure for this (as we are already married, but maybe it is not yet official outside usa...)

Many thanks

Hi Kman, you can not get married again as you are already married.

You need to register the marriage at the Amphur.

You will need to translate your marriage certificate from Vegas and get the translation verified by MFA (Ministry of foreign affairs).

There's a translation company between Fishermans village and Banrak that can take care of both for you.

Take the translation and the original to the Amphur and you will receive document Kor Ror 22 instead of the Thai marriage certificate Kor Ror 3.

This will make it official in Thailand

It's around , 14,000 baht at Nathon,... not 40,000~! Just thought I had better correct that! wink.png

No, I paid 1.600 per night for private room, 3 nights = 4.800 baht

If I have opted for the ward it would have been free.

Oh you spoil sport ..... Rooo...tongue.png

That 14,000 included the pre and after care, from the Dr outside the hospital gate! ....I gather there are several options... up to you! wink.png

The private rooms there, are not bad, they include very large room, AC, TV, fridge, bit of a kitchen area.... sea view too! Better than some resorts for the money!

4 beds wards are not too bad,... but the large open ones are bah.gif .... (here or anywhere!)

THB 40+ was the going rate @ Thai Inter when ours were born shortly after they opened. My eldest was the first born to a resident family there although I believe a tourist family beat us @ being their first actual birth. The road to Naton* has substantially improved in recent years but it (distance from my then home in Plai Laem)) was a governing factor at the time.

No2 followed 7k dearer two years later! smile.png

*I couldn't find the clip where "Betty" was in labour but you get my drift!

Spot on about the road to Nathon from Plai Laem 'in the old days'.

It's still a pain now (traffic wise).

In a couple of years they turn in into rug ... sand rats that like to tickle toes! tongue.pngbiggrin.png

I wouldn:'t ever set foot in Bandit hospital after one visit....don't do it under any circumstances.

Hope all goes well for you both!
