Krabi - tourist visa extension

Featured Replies

Perhaps not very exciting (or maybe it is), but I thought that I should report my recent (last week) experience in Krabi City, getting my tourist visa extended.

Short story—easy as pi. Took about 10 mins in total, with the transaction handled by a pretty Thai lady, who even laughed at my joke, and agreed that I was a sexy man (that was not the joke). She took my details, typed them into the computer, and out spat a printed extension form, ready for me to sign. The wonders of technology. She even photocopied my visa for a modest 20 baht (scan—no, photocopy yes, alas.)

What might be of interest is the immig building. Looks brand spanking new, with wind turbines, exercise machines, and pithy public statements on the walls. A happy and cheerful building, one that made me feel (more) virtuous simply being there. This structure is located ~2km to the SE of the city centre. Position: 8.0516N 98.9044E. A motorbike ride from the city there and back, with the driver waiting, cost me a 150b.

Thank you for the useful report that even let me learn a new word.
