Yes, pure creamery butter in Thailand is only required to be about 80% butter. For example. Allowrie brand:

Ingredients

Butter Oil 80%, Milk Powder 2%, Iodized Salt 2%

Emulsifier (INS471, INS322), Natural Colour Added (INS160a(ii)), Natural Identical Flavour (artificial flavor) Added.

Let the buyer beware...

yet the price has gone up over the past 2weeks 20%,i expect its because the unexpected rise in inflation [butter&oil in the UK.

If you really wanna go for good butter: last week I picked up German Ammerlaender Butter (250g) for 95 Baht at Makro in Surin. I'll need to buy again tomorrow, I make every few days Swiss Butterzopf. Real European butter, actually cheaper than Thai made butter!

It is not salted , actually on the packs I bought it is marked: Unsalted Butter. Makro might sell both, salted and unsalted. Here's proof of one of the four packs I bought on Saturday:

This butter is the best I have tasted in Thailand and very good value at 90 Baht in Makro, Pattaya (I think).

I prefer salted but unsalted is also available.

Just bought this butter from Germany two days ago.

Not tried yet.

Now you know why butter prices in Germany exploded in recent times
