Leaning To Drive!

Featured Replies

I'm teaching the G/F to drive.....(keep that for a different posting, eh?) and I'm looking for a deserted piece of land where she can learn how to operate the car correctly before going out onto the public highways.

Does anyone know of an airfield or dissused roads around the Pattaya/Choburi region that might be suitable? Even a large piece of wasteland or an industrial estate?

The people in the village where I stay use the school field to learn and preactice their driving skills..

Haven't you heard mention of the "Famous Driving Street?"

If you drive down Soi Siam Country Club till you reach Maprachan reservoir there is an area they use for the buffalo races etc. If it's not being used for any kind of festival it is usually set out with rows of tyres as roads and places for reversing etc. It's on the left hand side heading east, opposite the temple, just past the turn for Horseshoe Point. :o:D

Try carparks of Superstores. The area of carpark furthest away from the store doors is always void of vehicles. :o

The area around the train station (near Soi Siam Countryclub) is commonly used as well.

My wife learned to drive at one of the driving schools in Bangkok. She learned on a manual transmission in a car with no A/C. Sort of baptism by fire!

Thanks....I'll take a drive out that way soon!
