I know rent can be high but 651,536 baht just on rent a month seems a bit high even for Nana. That is 21,717 baht a day, everyday (based on a 30 day month) before overheads & wages.

Not arguing, just commenting...................wink.png.pagespeed.ce.HJgPQ3U3SA.png

enough bars in all of Thailand... most will survive, some will not... they should be used to it, enough public holidays in Thailand where they in general would not be allowed to sell any alcohol...

some bars will have a new business model and just move opening hours from 2pm-2am to 10am-9pm... happy hour from 10am to 1pm.. and most alcoholics would gladly start drinking few hours earlier in order to have enough when they must go home early...

Not legal to sell Alcohol in Thailand until after 5pm (See 7/11 statement) so bars will open for a few hours only.

You really need to get these rules about selling alcohol sorted out in your own head before you mislead people.

7/11 may be right in their statement concerning them as retail outlets, but it is not true across the board...................wink.png

At least I hope not as I (read wife) would have been illegal for many years..................rolleyes.gif

Kick out the drunks, marry off the bargals and get it over with.

Everyone always complains about getting ripped off anyways...they should be happier.

I want to buy a bar in Jomtien, so if you know of anybody who wants to sell, drop me a line.

If this goes on for any length of time, wait a couple of weeks and ask again.......................thumbsup.gif

Maybe they will install cots so the business model changes, longer short times and on premise?

Thats right. . Not everyone is here for the culture. Me being one. Let's hope they get their shit together before the whole place falls apart.

Do you really think that the whole place will fall apart because a few places in this huge country will no longer cater for beer swilling men who sit in seedy knocking shops and seem obsessed with prostitutes? There is nothing pleasant about these bars, they exploit women .
If Thailand could rid itself of the image of GoGo bars, beer bars and the hideous punters that go with them, it would be a good thing.
Sorry. Rant over

Well, nobody knows that. I'd bet on two to three weeks, but that's based on nothing at all really.

edit- at the previous poster

I'm betting it will be lifted on Sunday night, or changed to midnight-5am.

How much are we betting?

The WAY to go around the Curfew-- is a CURFEW Party... meaning the Bar closes the Doors at 11-- those who want to remain in the bar till 5 am... Wil be treated to the Curfew Party... This is going down in Patpong Soi 2 tonight-- You can find the place.. Always a way to party... even during Curfew times!

But your not allowed a gathering of 5 or more, so I guess a party of 4 will be a party no more.

The gathering of 5 only applies to Thai citizens.

Foreigners can gather together as much as they like.

If it goes on any longer, "locked-door parties" will become the new business model.

if the bar owners were smart enough do what the philippines did when they had martial law and curfews just open early then shut early they had a booming industry in the bar scene some of the best times were had by all and if a bar girl is desperate for money she will adapt to the new time

The blue nose do-gooders need to find a "christian" sharia country to go live in, or they can just get beamed up in the resurrection. The world will be better off without them. No alcohol in the stores before 1100 and none between 1400 and 1700. Mom and Pop stores always sell and bars and restaurants exempt. I hear a rumor that the curfew will end Monday, remains to be seen. I think a lot depends on the round-up of red shirt leaders. Maybe they could round up the do-gooders at the same time.

Hmm, any suggestions where?

That is probably the funniest thing I have ever read on TV.

Hopefully all the Euro-trash sexpests will move on and the new constitution will include provision for a decent welfare state, funded initially by all the money Suthep stole. He can kick-start it by selling that land he purchased with donations.

Quite strange comments coming from your namesake, Kenny Powers. BTW, your socialist nature is showing through.

In my opinion, those that have adequate cash reserves and a decent customer base, will have a better survival rate. Innovative marketing such as adjusted hours, etc. will possibly help them to weather the storm.

There have been several hate filled, bigotted and nonsensical posts which may show that regardless of the issue at hand, there are those that will jump onto the corpse to eat their fill.

In the end of all this, the strong will survive.

Most bars rip off so many of their clientele anyway, I don't really care if some don't make money for a few nights. Most are also so dirty (as in grime) shows they don't give a hoot about their patrons, and of course there are already too many chasing a dwindling clientele.

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Sounds like a buyers market then . Looks like a 5am till 10pm Cheap Charlie party time. Make the most of it fellas!! Every cloud......10pm to 5am short tine....yipeeeee

My local Tesco in Phitsanulok (near Makro) sells alcohol between 11am-2pm & 5pm-11pm (used to be till midnight but Tesco changed their hours here). If you want to buy during the curfew hours you have to buy min 10 litres.

The first time I bought alcohol at Tesco (Phichit) by myself, as the wife was working, I put a carton of Leo stubbies in the trolley and went to the checkout. Next thing I know the security guard comes over waving his hands at me and talking thai which I don't understand, grabs hold of my trolley and wheels it back to the beer section.

Next thing he's putting more single stubbies in the trolley then points me to the checkout with a smile. I didn't have a clue what was going on at the time but certainly didn't argue.

Gotta luv Thailand

What the heck of posts are here! Oh of course I forgot alcohol is the biggest Drug and Killer on this planet even our doing Malaria which comes second but still to Population is growing. Who cares about the Bars? I dunno If Subway would go down that would be bad.

Thailand a welfare Country? Possible when all the Money the Thaksin clan has stolen form it plus the 500 billion Thai Baht wasted with the Rice scheme then that would be possible. Not to forget the wasted Money on the first Car buyer scheme and plenty of the people who used that scheme cannot pay now the instalements as required monthly. Used cars are getting cheap now. Yeah well of to the Filipinos less hassle with Visa and Company set up and being welcome there as well.
